Is it worth buying a preowned Dreamcast even though Sega will stop to make games for it soon?

I was in Game at the weekend and I noticed a couple of Playstation, an N64 and a Dreamcast. I've got a N64 and a PS2 so I thought 'maybe i should buy that'. It was only £50 and i was going to buy it but then i thought i'd better get a second opinion from (hopefully) neutral folk like you.

I know of some awesome games on Dreamcast but i've never played one. My friends have said Shenmue (and sequel) and Phantasy Star Online make it worthwhile to buy the console, but I dont know how any of the online thing works / how much it costs etc etc.

Can you plug your Dreamcast straight into a phone socket and use your exisiting ISP that you use for your PC? Or must you use the one Sega say's you must?

Some of the games on the Dreamcast have been released on the PS2 and every one has been good so i thought what do you all think?

Any replies, or recommendations for games welcome. :)

I've got a Dreamcast because they were coming down in price due to Sega not making new games for 'em.

However, there are still a lot of games, first and second hand out there which you can still buy.

Skies of Arcadia is a must have!

I'm not a fan of online gaming though, so I haven't bothered much with the dreamkey (ordered the latest version just incase)

If you do want to use a current ISP, you'll need to get a Dreamkey 3 which although they are free, Sega are not accepting orders (or so they say) after the 28th Feb! But with it you can use your current ISP and it's just a case of plugging it into the phone line.

I thought Sega stopped games for it ages ago, anyway, buy one! they really are great! Not like they're expensive...
I love the passports :) the games are good, there are loads of good 4 player games and a modem (chu chu rocket it very good, better on the GBA though).

Dreamcast is a superb console, although unless u plan to use utopia disc and get dirt cheap import, getting hold of the best games is going to be rather dificult.

If you really want a dreamcast you should consider the online auctions, they have some cheap ones so i have heard
