As many of you may know theyre have been discussions over the fact that computers could be used to train soldiers to fight in battle and that this would be much safer and 'realistic'.
This, as many people have pointed out is a bunch of pathetic profanitys (i think itl censor anything id wish to type)because there is no way you could simulate the actions in real life combat in a computer in any way. In the computer 'war' you would not be hit by emotions and it would simply be a case off 'whoops im a pile of gibs lets just restart and step OVER that mine' etc and there would be nothing learned except how to successfully navigate the cursor to restart.
There would be absolutely NO serious thinking involved as all that wpuld run through your mind would be 'ok if i mess this up im gonna look stupid' but in real life it would be 'if i mess this up im gonna look messy' so why even consider this form of training? i cannot be the only one hwo has heard or read the discussions about this topic as it was mentioned in the relatively recent opsm2 magazine (timesplitters 2 edition, september i believe) now i am not a hardened gamer but it does not need an iq of 234 to work out that this idea is plain insane and im sure that opsm2 is not the only magazine or article to tackle the topic so isnt this just plain stupid?
