This is a great time to be playing coimputer games. We have so much competitions and so many good designers and games we are spoilt for choice as we look at the debates raging over which machine will be best, it is hard when we look back and wonder how did we survive with only SEGA and Nintendo before, games were little know and only 'geeks' played them but now we have a great variety and range to choose from. We have a battle which will soon ensue which is very exciting, in one corner the SEGA games system which will be experienced and battle weary. With great new games and loads of originality they are breaking creative boundaries. We have Sony who are the biggest console developers (Bar gameboy) in the world and they have made sure that their machine has novel touches, DVD backwards capability. We have Nintendo arguably the best games developer who continue to produce classic after classic, and we have microsoft, the biggest company on the planet, and a world wide marketing machine.

Who will win, hopefully all because if one is to powerful we won't have th choice, all can find a niche market at find a place in peoples homes.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear what I meant is that the PS is the biggest selling console, and that Sony had produced the biggest selling console. (Other than the Gameboy)

Exactly Grix, I totally agree with you. Its just that Sony have mega bucks that they are said to be bigger, but the king for me will be Nintendo. Which company will develop as many on the whole successful consoles as Nintendo?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Sony have made 3, yes 3 consoles. Nintendo have made 9 (including new ones), so they seem to have made themselves a bigger console developer.

Dont you mean bar Nintendo rather than bar Gameboy? Competitions can be counter productive though- as technology for computer games gets mre advanced, this production costs up, and this ulimately forces some of the smaller development companies out of buisness, denying the consumer of some originality. This would then cause a monopoly if it carries on at the current trend- there will be a lot of mega-rich companies earining lots of money from software sales whereas most of the smaller firms will go bust. Sure its a good time to be playing computer games, but dont look at just the surface, look at the companies that does bust that make your companies first though.
