In no particular order - because they're all brilliant - I present the games you need to beg everyone to buy you for special occasions. Yes, they're a little pricey (not with SR though), but hell, get your rellies to club together - you'll be happy with just one of these.
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
----------------------
Chances are, you've already got this. It's the reason loads of people I know got a PS2 (especially when combined with the PS2 price drop). There must be someone out there who hasn't got involved with it yet, though - I urge you to kindly do so. It'll show everyone what your console can do, while giving you the drive of your life. I guarantee you'll be locked into Gran Turismo mode for months to come and what's more - it's 2 player!

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3
-----------------------
So solid. so smooth, so BIG. You don't need to be part of the skateboarding scene to enjoy a blast on Tony Hawks. But that's always been the way. On PS2 though, new features - including reverts, flatland moves and lip tricks - combined with the exhaustive detail in the level design, Creat-A-Skater mode and on-line play mean that this is the best version yet. You'll flip for the unlockable extras too...

Grand Theft Auto 3
------------------
If you haven't heard of this game yet, all I can ask is "where have you been?" The sickest puppy in the pet shop, GTA3 is a game without rules, a game that says: "Go blow stuff up...!" It's the most violent game on the shelves, dropping you in a city of cops, crimes and civilians and going out of its way to help you build a bad reputation. All-out nutter or career criminal - it's up to you how you play it. Nick fast cars, blow things up, blow PEOPLE up, do a bit of mugging JUST FOR KICKS! Fantastic!!!

Burnout
-------
So fast it should carry a Government Health Warning. Burnout's a racer that doesn't mess about with car-tweaking options or cinematic cut-scenes. Instead, it clamps you behind the wheel of a grunty sports car and streams tarmac and traffic straight into your fear glands. Drive dangerously and you'll be rewarded by even more speed. Crash and you get an instant breathtaking replay. It's simple and as subtle as a bus. But sometimes that's just what you need.

SSX Tricky
----------
Better than the original? By God's sweet light, y-y-y-es. It's still the most exhilirating game on PS2, but now with new characters, combos, tricks and new tracks - and any weaker features from the first game have been tuned to perfection. This is a game which tempts you with a mass of shortcuts, hidden rails and secret jumps, then batters your senses with amazing powder effects and striking lighting and camerawork. It's why you got into PS2...

Pro Evolution Soccer
--------------------
The finest multi-player experience on Playstation 2? No other game comes close to capturing the emotion of the real thing - you'll be swearing with intense passion "that wasn't a foul" - straight into your mates' red faces. It looks sharp as well. Each player instantly recognisable and animated to precision. In short, you'll fool everyone into thinking they're watching a real match. Proof? Just ask Pro Evo!

Devil May Cry
-------------
It's not the longest game you'll play, but part of the problem is that you'll be so hooked, you won't sleep until you finish it. It's just you, an island and an endless current of spooks throwing themselves at your weapons of death. The way Dante dishes out rapid-fire, twin-pistol justice to demons of fine evil is unique and agreeably exhilirating - Resident Evil will never seem the same again. And it's got the best music soundtrack on the PS2.

Half-Life
---------
If you've already played this on the PC, you won't find much to tempt you to re-invest your time. If you haven't played the PC version, this is where you find out where so many recent first-person shooters half-inched their ideas. It's got its small problems - the way it highlights enemies and items with a stupid box - and some irritating framerate issues, but the way the game's structure and plot combine is mesmerising.

Silent Hill 2
-------------
Like GTA3, this isn't a game for the family to appreciate on a turkey-fuelled christmas afternoon. This is one to play in secret, late at night, when everyone's out of your face. It's not that it's frightening, it's just terribly disturbing, but you just won't want to miss a single breath of the plot. Displaying one of the best seen graphics on the PS2 and with the blended puzzle elements, and at-time frustrating combat system, this is one of the best adventures ever made.

MTV Music Generator 2
---------------------
It's not a game. It's a corridor to creating some shocking professional sounding tunes using your PS2 and DualShock 2. Over 10, 000 music samples are stored on the disc - and with the aid of the add-on sampling device, you can introduce your own. It's up to you to click and drag them into the grid, and build your own chart-cracking rythms. It's quite simple, but deeper than anything else on Playstation2.

Well, there you have it. All these games mentioned have shown the true ability and strength of the PS2 after it's appalling array of launch titles. Ninty's and all you other squares out there, come join the fascinating world that is...Playstation!
Hope this was a good read
I can't be bothered doing MGS2 though because that big post knocked me out and anyway, you all know MGS2 rules! Don't you? Good....

Hope that helps you. :D
1.) Gran Turismo 3
This was the game that really got the PS2 going. Why? Because it had everything that a car game needs. It had thrills, it had graphics, it had multiplayer, but most of all it had cars and tracks. But the thing about it was that it was so addictive. People couldn't keep off the Career Mode. It was so engrossing. You won races, and that supplied money to buy more cars and get more money and upgrade and so on. It really was the game everyone wanted.
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(^) so 9 and 3/4. Almost perfect.

2.) WipEout Fusion
I've noticed that some of you haven't included this masterpiece of a racer. I wonder why. Maybe you haven't played it, or there is a chance that you don't like the WipEout series at all. It is possible, but then, you are just being stupid. Fusion is a great racing game. Ok, so it doesn't quite compare to Gran Turismo but it has it's bits. The game is fast. Oh yes, it is very fast. It has a one player that can last you for a while and it has a multiplayer. The graphics were good too. A long lasting game, though haters of the series won't like it.
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(-) so 9 out of 10. Not bad.

3.) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
This game is the third in a contiuous series of skateboarding games by Activision, featuring Tony Hawk and all his skateboarding mates. The game is well put together. Levels are fantastic, skateboarders look brilliant, aqnd there are hundreds of moves in the game. This was Tony's first outing on the PS2, but it is a brill game due to that. All fog from the levels has been removed, and they can now be vast and all visible instead of there being fog almost a few metres in front of you. This improves things a lot as you can see where your targets are in the one player mode. Has a great multiplay too. Good game!
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(^)(-) so 8 and 3/4. Not as good as the others, but still a great game.

4.) Devil May Cry
I don't know too much about this. I've not gotten into it loke a lot of you have, but from what I've heard, it's a great game. The team that made Resident Evil have obviously worked hard to try and gain the respect of their fans after making the RE series exclusive to the Cube. They may have done well. DMC is a fast paced game, with lots of sword action, and good graphics. As I said, I can't comment too much, but it is a great game from what I've seen.
Rating (from what I've seen)
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(-)(-) so 8 as a score then. Quite good.

5.) Pro Evolution Soccer
When you think of the best football game that there is you think of Pro Evolution, that is, if you have played it. :D Pro Evo is a game, made by the ISS developers but not officially in the ISS series. But that doesn't stop it from being a great game. It has all the action that is needed in a football game. Besides that it has good graphics, great gameplay, a super multiplayer and most of all, it has clubs! Not too many it has to be said but I do enjoy playing as the teams in there. Brilliant! Pro Evolution Soccer rules my life! What a game! Almost perfect!
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(^) so another 9 and 3/4 game. Great stuff! My personal favourite.

6.) Grand Theft Auto
This simply is the best game on the PS2 so far! Nothing can beat running over 20 people while in a chasey by the police before jumping into a tank and flattening the police cars with it. Sniping from building....... with Rocket launchers is great fun too, and don't get me started on pertol bombs. :D So, if you want all that in a game that also gives you challenges from Mafias and car races and beating up pimps then GTA3 is the game for you, but even if you don't like that sort of thing, GTA is a joy to play. This version of the game is now in full £D as well, which helps a lot. No multiplayer though. Hopefully (fingers crossed) there will be a multiplayer option in GTA4 if that game will ever come out, which I'm sure it will. Anyway, overall, great game, well worth your money, and an absolute riot. Brilliant! Top game of the PS2! It doesn't beat my personal favourite (Pro Evo) because I love that game, but most of you seem to love it more, so it gets the full....
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) 10 out of 10! Great stuff from Rockstar!

7.) Madden 2002
This isn't a game that all of you would include in your list, but I do. I happen to play American Football in real life occassionally and I really enjoy it (even if it does hurt a bit). So I got Madden 2002. And I really enjoy it. It has tacticalness, which I love in a game. Choosing your own offensive patterns and how the defense attacks the offensive is brilliant fun! I love the crunches of players when they get into big rammies in the middle of the field too. Looks great with crisp graphics as well! One of EA's better sides. I would recommend it if you don't have it.
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(+)(-) so that is 8 and a 1/2 out of 10. Quite good. A game that I really enjoy to play!

8.) State of Emergency
This is another one of these games that I can't comment on too thoughroly on but from what I know, it looks like a mighty good game. Cause riots in the street, blow up things, make rebellions, and with 100s of missions too. And from what I've heard, there are 100s and 100s of moving citezens on the screen at once, and also, from what I've heard, it'll be a GREAT game! I can't wait to get it.
Rating (from what I've seen)
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(-) so that is 9 out of 10. A good score if I ever saw one. ;-)

9.) SSX Tricky
There really is nothing like sliding down huge cliffs of ice and doing break-neck stunts in courses that we can only dream of with some insane characters.... but, it works for EA, in another one of their good games. SSX Tricky is a vast step up from the first game in the series, PS2 launch title SSX. The game has got many new riders (now 12 in total), a few new courses (2 new courses but all the old 8 are still there), and a whole heap of snow. The game is brill to play in World Circuit, which is the main source of 1 player gaming, and Freeride which is the main source of 2 player gaming. The moves are oh-so unrealistic and the game will give you so much joy when you knock that freak Brodi off his board. Brilliant stuff in what I would call EA's best game ever. EA Big made it though, but you see that Big works for EA. :D
Rating
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(+) so that is 9 and a 1/2 out of 10. Another great result!

10.) Stuntman
This is a game that I really want, and I can't give a rating on it because I have been told it won't be out until May 24th, courtesy of an SR staff member. But anyway, from screenshots and a video in a magazine, I have witnessed enough to want the game. Hurry up and get in the shops Stuntman!
No rating can be put in yet.
I took about an hour or 2 to do that and I bet none of you read it.......
From....... Afro.......

Jak and Daxter
----Now in no particular order----
Herdy Gerdy
SSX Tricky
Grand Theft Auto 3
Star Wars:Starfighter
Gran Turismo 3
Kuri Kuri Mix---(what? its weird)
Devil May Cry
Damn...
-----=====REZ=====-----
I think Rez is one of the best games available on the PS2? Why I hear you ask? Mainly beacuse it is so simple and easy to get into, the sort of game you can dip in and out of at any times. With very easy to master controls and an ingenious way of building up a sountrack, Im glad it made it from DC over to PS2
(*)(*)(*)(*)(-) 4 stars
-----=====Wipeout Fusion=====-----
This is a great racing experience. You though Extreme G was good. Well this is a hell of a lot better. The tracks are graphically impressive, the hovercraft control well and the weapons are fun too use, to say the least. And thankfully it keeps up to the standards of it's predecessor's. A must have for any PS2 owner.
(*)(*)(*)(*)(-) 4 stars
-----=====Silent Hill 2=====-----
To be honest, this is not necessarily a must-have game. But nonetheless, its a very good game. The story is tense, as is the gameplay, and the monsters will make you go through several trips to the loo (or unfortunately, MISSED trips to the loo). Graphically impressive, it will make you go insane (if you play too long!0
(*)(*)(*)(*-)(-) 3 and a half stars
-----=====State Of Emergency=====-----
Maybe not as good as GTA3, but certainly a good game. It has quite a fun way of doing things, and fans or GTA3 will instantly recognise the format of missions etc. And its just as violent. Oooh, to take out several cops (and a few civilians as well) Yay...
(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) 5 stars (not as good as GTA3)
Well thanks for letting me talk :)
> Jak and Daxter, Herdy Gerdy, AC4, Wipeout Fusion?
Hmmm.... I see your point
> with a few of them, especially SSX Tricky, that IS cool...
But MTV Music
> Generator?
Ulgh...
MTV Music generator 2 is a quality game for producing your own music, and once you've got your rythm going you'll be chuffed with what you made after that frustrating effort...believe me!
it is a good game but it lacks in realtiy.
burnout.
a really cool game, quite fast too, and it is a must buy.
Tony hawks 3
can get it for the ps one but it better on the ps2, get real!
dropship
yet another flying and shooting game for the ps2 it has good graphic and speed but the controls are hard to handle.
