As a full time student relying on booze to get through the college day, buying a next generation console is way too much for my less than generous student budget. But seeing as the N64 is dead and all I decided to opt for Nintendo's portable wonder, the Gameboy Advance.
Now my fave console has always been the SNES, as you can see i'm a bit of a Nintendo junkie!, and seeing as the GBA is very similar in looks anyway to the SNES I felt it was time to get hold of the cash to get hold of one.
After failing to grab any dough Grand Theft Auto style I proceeded to work my way to affording one. Nintendo did me a big favour by reducing both the GBA and its games. Yes it took a month of hard labour to get the money needed to buy one, was it worth it? I'd say yes.
The graphics blew me away considering the size of the thing but the gameplay is where it holds its own, In this day and age, games seem to be judged on how much they amaze rather than how much they entertain and last.
My one gripe is that the GBA seems to have been seen and done all before with games being maybe too similar to the ones seen on the Snes. To many that is not a bad thing but Mario Advance for example is way too similar to the version on the SNES.
Can I afford to keep buying the great games that keep coming out? In a sense, no. Beer takes top priority but at least I can say I have a new games console, even if it is a wee bit smaller than the rest!!

Heh, 'n64 is dead' - second least popular phrase in the forum, only to 'gamecube is for kids' : )

With less priority on beer, i'll be going for a cube. Still can't afford a cube *and* a gba tho.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forums : )
