Looking for a dreamcast, I wandered past this site, and ended up on Gameplay. I can get a Dreamcast, Chu Chu Rocket, and Dead or Alive 2, for £174.99

Yeah, I thought that Virtua Tennis was excellent and RE: Code Veronica has some wonderful in game graphics. I personally am getting a PS2, so I am not interested in the DC offer, but its definately worth considering if you hgavent bought a DC and done want a PS2.

Thank you for repling Ali! (I suck up so bad....)
**Cough** I have a DVD player anyway, which I brought with all my riches, so thanks for the offer.
Of course Damo, the Dreamcast for another 50 isn't worth it. Have you actually played or seen graphics of recent games on the Dreamcast?

Ali, I would personally get a PS2 which takes up less space that a DC AND a DVD player, even though both , with the DVD player thats about 250 on its own is a good deal for anyone who doesnt want to get a PS2 but wants a DVD player.

If you care to look at the pages of the new club mag (whether you have it or not, I don't know), you will see a rather tasty offer on the Dreamcast page - a Dreamcast and a top of the range DVD player for under £300, coincedentally the same price as a PS2. If you really can't stand the wait for PS2 than why not take us up on this offer?

Right Grix can I correct you here- the reason why the PS2 is shipping for £300 is because of the high British pound- the shipping costs also force up the price of the console. id wait for the better games, once they come out, youll really see what the PS2 is made of.

GOOD GOD! It all makes sense now!
Sony are worried, the PS2 sells well at a cheap price in Japan and games are not being brought. Sony, unfortuantly, has left profit to the games, and now no-one is buying them. How are they going to get enough money to save them?
Then Sony have a brainwave, when the PS2 comes to Europe, why not put an extra hundred on the price tag, to compensate for no game sales. We don't care if you buy games or not now, we've got your money!
I was wondering why the PS2 was so expensive, and this completely explains it!

As I have said before (this is the part when everyone goes to sleep) I'm not buying a new console until they come down in price or get the message that it is not acceptable to price games machines above £200.
Anyway, I can't afford another console at the moment, and then there are the games to go with it and the peripherals (note: peripherals are not chocolate covered balls of pastry) and everything else. Oh for more money!

Back to the subject...I know Sony are making a loss (allegedly) on the PS2 and making money on games (that are not selling as well as the console anyway, whoops!) but it's not acceptable to put the console at that price in this country and less in others. I might buy a machine from somewhere else in Europe instead now.

Whoops! Better turn this into a topic.
Umm. Price comparision. Ah yes!
The PS2 will cost about £300, we think the X-Box will be more like £400, the Gamecube will be £200, and the Dreamcast is £150.

Does anyone really want to fork out £300 or more for a console? You have to be really sure you want it before you spend that sort of money (£150 is still a lot mind)

What I'm saying is, not many people are taking into account the price of the actual console, instead they say how good the graphical capabilitys are. This is utter bum. The games have to be good yes, but only that and the price of the system should make any impact on what system to buy.

Would you all buy a system half the price of PS2 if it could play games just as good, and have a better selection of games a the moment, and for a very long time? It seems not.

(I think I did quite well there changing it into a subject.)
