I thought I'd grace you all with a new topic on the extremely slow depletion of standards of Final Fantasy games.

Final Fantasy 7 was a true masterpiece. It is known by many as the best one out of all 10 that have been released. It was one of the first games out on Sony's Playstation, but has managed to stay, above all competition, one of the best games. It has graphic, which, for the time, were absolutely astonishing. A rich pllot and storyline and some of the best PS1 gameplay mixed with 2 hours of FMV sequences made it one of the best FF's to date.

Final Fantasy 8 was considered, by some, not to be as good as it's predecessor. I personally think it was one of best FF's but still not THE best. Anyway, people complained the GF sequences were too long and that the magic system was not as good. This, I think, was actually quite enjoyable. A change from the MP system was just what the doctor ordered. But maybe the game was a bit too linear?

Final Fantasy 9, my personal favourite. It managed to fix problems experienced and commented on by gamers from previous FF games. The summon sequences were shortened, MP returned and the only fault that I found is that each character was restricted to their 2 set abilities, be it Steal and Skill or Sword Magic and Sword Technique. I felt the way you could change these in FF8 made a small but nonetheless worthy change, making it feel less linear. FF9 also went slightly more like FF7 graphically and in plot form. But this wouldn't put me off buying. Only problem? Too much pre-set before you got to play!

And with the upcoming release of both Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 6, plus with Square's first venture into online gaming, Final Fantasy XI Online (which, from video's i've seen, looks a bit dull), do you think the games will get better or will continue to slowly deplete. Any views?
