For some strange reason it looks as though I am being delegated the job of setting up a website. I have zero experience in anything like this so have a few questions:
1. I have noticed a few comments recently regarding having to be a Freeola broadband customer in order to upload/alter things to a hosted site. I have 2 Freeola connections that I would use to for this purpose, could I use either or would I be stuck to using a single one?
2. Is there a limit to how large a site can be (would I be limited to x no. of pages/data allowance).
3. If I really struggle due to being generally rubbish at this kind of thing is there additional help available other than the standard helpdesk/support system?
4. Is it possible to delete entire parts of a site if I manage to make a complete mess of it?
Thanks.
Don't forget (as your original query touched on this) with InstantPro you don't need to be connected via Freeola, you can update this from any old connection :¬)
Thought it was worth a mention in case things aren't clear to others reading this.
[s]Hmmm...[/s] My Freeola InstantPro Site Thanks DL, may well be calling that favour in!
That site looks good, If I'm able to come up with something like that I'll be well chuffed.
Will let you know how I get on...
Please do pete and you will be more than welcome :¬)
Know exactly how you want your home page of the site to be ... layout, information and connections to other pages if necessary at this stage. Get it all down on paper first, even one sheet of A4 for each page will do initially ... you need to plan your needs before you can attach your skill to create it, if you see what I mean!
Nope, first I'd heard of it.
I'd suggest that you give it a try but as the 'name' suggests it's quite old but still so functional for 'hand-coding' without any 'frills', which aren't really necessary for most sites ... they're just used to fill a space!
Don't worry pete, there are enough people here to help you. I'm a Freeola user and registered my site in 2000 and built it from there 'by hand', long before Instant Pro. I've also built sites for others and hosted them all through Freeola. Some of the site owners have now retired but here's one ... built 'by hand':

I thought 'by hand' meant nothing more than notepad? ;¬) [/i]
Hoho ... have you used it? Everything I build is 'hand-coded' ... it's just a better layout than notepad and allows you to see a 'real time' view of what co*k-up's you've made, but you're right ... it does allow you to enter 'blank tags' without the hassle of typing them every time! By hand means 'just what I say on my tin'! ;¬)

Will have a stab at this myself and then no doubt come crying to you when it all goes belly up! :)
