Upcoming PS2 titles.
I was shocked today to find not 1, not 2, but 3 PS2 games I wanted in the future were out, unexpectedly. Firstly, there was Rez, great game, fun to play and brilliant sound. Secondly, herdy gerdy, because I wanted some puzzley-platform-esque game to take up its rightful place in my PS2. Thirdly, and the most unexpected, was Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2: Code Veronica. I hadn't expected this for many months, but luckily I refrained from purchase, because judging by reviews, its utter t**d.
New to my knowledge is Final Fantasy 6 on the PlayStation. Why they don't just bring out the FF anthology is beyond me, but I suppose half as much isn't bad. Especially when its out this Friday, full with a playable Final Fantasy X demo (WOOOHOOOO!!!!!). A top choice for a GAD prize 3 win...
Grandia Extreme was also a big surprise, me being the RPG nut that I am. Grandia 2 is out soon, so it looks like my PS2-RPG slot is sufficiently filled. Great!
I saw a rolling demo of Auto Modellista, and I have to say... Sweet!!! It is pretty much playable manga, and it looks absolutely great!
On a lighter note, I sufficiently wowed my mate by letting him play Medal of Honour on my new (boast mode: initiated) P4 1.7gb, 512mb ram, 64mb GeForce 3 ti 500, surround sound w/ subwoofer (MEGA BASS :-) I just showed him the Operation Overlord mission and, suffice to say, I had a mop on hand to wipe up the drool. I just love 1600 x 1200 resolution on a 19inch flatscreen... (And its a dell computer, so its all black ;-)
Looks like there are quite a few great PS2 games coming out, but one thing I noticed: On the PSM2 video of Medal of Honour: Frontline, I saw some footage which looked suspiciously similar to the Omaha Beach landing mission. In fact, I could swear that, apart from the different map, ammo and health bars, and scaled-down videos, it was merely MOH:AA for simpler machinery. Hmm....
I also saw Ocean's Eleven, and was suitably impressed. Funny, imaginative and a re-make that isn't utter s***e, I thought it was quite good, and would recommend it.
On the topic of remakes, the Planet of the Apes DVD is pants, with borders as big as the Mona Lisa picture Frame, and it was brought to my attention by a friend how un ape-like the 'apes' look. Hmm...
Banter over, and for the incompetent few who actually read it, and the once-in-a-blue-moon appearance of people with brains, I'm sure it was a rather un-thrilling but informative read. And I was as shocked about that Final Fantasy revelation as you are. So there you go.

They were saying that you would only be able to get import one which have been converted. I bit stupid I think!

Mmm. Thought so. Thanx for clearing that up :).
Or am I missing something? :)
It is, but the thing is, unlike my other DVDs,

Is it in the 2.35:1 ratio as this is the proper widescreen enhanced mode. If it is then you will get boarders on a widescreen TV, but there arent big. If you are using a PS2 to watch the DVD on a 4:3 screen change the DVD ration for the PS2 to 16:9. I have Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back and this is in 2.35:1 which I played on my PS2 on 4:3 TV. When I have the DVD picture on the PS2 set to 4:3 the actual viewing screen is very small. But put it to 16:9 its a bit bigger and is just as good.

It is, but the thing is, unlike my other DVDs, this one has doubly as big borders. They take up half the screen, instead of about 1/3. They are massive, and will be present even on a widescreen TV.
Agreed on the other ones though I'm not so sure about Auto Modellista as I've got a wealth of driving games already and am planning on Moto GP2 and F1 2001 Platinum when it comes out.
That Rez IS rather addictive, isn't it?

The DVD is probably enhanched for widescreen use. So if you dont have the proper set up you will experience big boarders. But if you have a widescreen TV with the DVD(PS2 if your using that) set up properly the boarders arent big at all.
