The connection became live yesterday though I know it takes dear old BT a while to officially confirm the migration is complete (I got an e-mail from my old ISP confirming cancellation today) but I can't see any usage figures in the portal, do these take a day or so to appear?

I was here before usage figures were available so can't say how things work for new customers :¬)
As it's all so new I would give it until tomorrow and then raise a ticket if your usage still isn't being reported or you don't hear more here.

Just checked 'our' off peak usage ... approx 14Gb per monthly period which is 3 people on general use + 2 online gaming. Maybe you should look at your usage again.

I did download a couple of Xbox game demos so that would explain it.
