Basically, I think Herdy Gerdy is a top game. Possibly not the best of them all, but its certainly amongst the best. There are a few niggles like the camera getting a little lost occasionally, but thats sortable with the manual camera. Compared to Jak and Daxter, the controls for both the characters and camera feel a little less polished, as Naughty Dog are real experts in this field. Also, the voices can drag a little making it preferable to simply press X and skip them.
That might seem like a fair few bad points... however, it doesn`t stop the game from being great fun to play. The herding element is a real joy, and is certainly one of the most original concepts ever introduced into a game. Its nice to see this kind of thing these days.
Other plus points are the character animations and interactions which are all top notch. Gerdy himself is like a real cartoon, and the many creatures spread around the world are also superb. When you see your first Gromp in a pen, you`ll not stop laughing for ages, its hilarious!
Basically, its not an MGS2 beater, but it is a fine game, and by the sounds of things, a much safer purchase than State of Emergency (so far the only positive response I`ve seen has come from a raving lunatic).
My advice - go for it. :-)
