eg would a search engine see the text of a over laid logo ?
Welcome to the Forums ...
Excellent advice and information ... you could get a GAD for this!
As regards image SEO, there are a few things you can do that would help you.
(1)You can rename your images to include keywords and phrases for which you want to be found...
So for example if you had a BnB in Hemel Hempstead, you could rename a pic of the outside of the property something like bedandbreakfasthertfordshire.jpg
instead of outsidepic3.jpg.
(2) Next, you can right click the image, click properties, then details and add a couple of suitable tags.
(3) When designing your site, add ALT tags to all your images - You should not overdo this, especially for your main key phrase.
(4) Lastly, either do it yourself if you have Photoshop or something similar, or get your designer to run large images through the "Save for web and devices" tool to reduce them in size - ie the number of kb not the physical size ie pixels.
Hope that helps.

I'm no SEO expert, but I'm guessing there wouldn't be much difference, happy to be proven wrong.
