errrrrm i think you'll find turbonutter is right, there mainly all hardware unless you get a PCI then there what we call a win modem and are software based which means they use a bit of CPU which is bad for games as you want the CPU for your game not modem.

Er, I thought USB modems were always hardware. You're more likely to find a software (or "controllerless") internal modem. Anyway, these are rarely problems (you can get good performance), but if you want to use it under anything but Windows then you're well and truley screwed.

I had a SupraMax for over a year, and it gave me faster transfers than any internal I've had!

Depends what you call fast. USB modems are software, so use up your system resources and aren't as fast as their PCI or Serial counterparts.

I have to say that everyone I've spoke to rates the SupraExpress really well, and mine is great. Quite nippy on a decent connection..

The SupraMax is a great little modem - very easy to set up, very reiable, and very fast - great choice if you don't want to use up a slot insode your PC.

NO

The Supramax is USB and will not give the same performance a SupraExpress will. I use a SupraExpress and for a 56k modem, its excellent.

The supramax is a 56k external Modem which connects to your USB port and the supraexpress is a 56k modem which is either an internal PCI modem or an external com port modem.

Hope this helps.
