Roy Keane has been Manchester United's highly determined, firey captain for almost a whole decade now, ever since he signed from Nottingham Forest. He's also one of the highest payed players at Old Trafford and in the Premiership. On £52,000 a week, he's only behind the likes of Veron, Sol Campbell, and soon-to-be David Beckham. This same contract comes to an end next summer, and it negotiations will soon have to begin. But with constant problems trying to satisfy Beckham's demands, will Keane ever get what he deserves, or will Fergie decide that Beckham's too important and Keane should move on???

Personally, although he's a firey Irishman who does recieve more than his fair-share of yellow cards (and a few red ones too) he is still the only man at United who can control a team for 90 minutes in a tense Cup Final!
Beckham may be England's skipper, but there's no-one who comes anywhere near to Keane's abillity!!
But what if Keane doesn't sign a new deal, or wants to leave, where would/should he go next??

Bayern Munich - The German giants were after Keane the last time we had a situation like this, right before he signed for £52k. As holders of both the Bundesliga and Champion's League Cups, moving to the German side could be a wise mve for Keano, especially after a dissapointing season (this season) at Old Traffor - trophy wise! German football isn't one of the fanciest or kindest types of football around, as each player can be full of rage, and it's only a land where the strongest will survive! So Keane's in with a chance, and a new challenge.

Real Madrid - Even though they've spent nearly £100m on both Figo and Zidane during the last 2 years, they may still feel they're missing that extra bit of fire and aggresion in the midfield! Keano would fit in perfectly there, and even though he cannot speak Spanish, his team mates would surely now how he's feeling about their in-game descisions!! It could be a good move, and he'd be playing in a league of flair and skill, giving him the chance to show them all it's not all about fancy footwork!!
The same could also be said for a possible move to Barcelona. High amounts of money from either side could also tempt Keane to either of the 'big-spenders'!

Juventus - Like Bayern, Juvé were one of those sides constantly pursuing their interests in Roy Keane when his last contract was coming to an end. So there's no doubt they'll be after him again, and who says they'll gove up so easily this time??
They may loose either Davids or Del Piero, or even both, if you believe what you read! They could cash in on this, and use parts of that income to fund Keane's wages on a weekly basis. I think that money will have a big say in Keane's next descision!

Celtic - He has admitted to having a slight admiration for the Scottish hoops, and has also said that he'd like to manage the club one day. Keane's now into his 30's, and it won't be too long before he retires, and possibly eneters management. As a retiring player at the club, the Celtic chairman may favour Keane to take over from Martin O'Neil, or whoever the previous manager was.
At a club like Juventus, he'd surely be tied down to a 5/6 year deal, and he's probably retire at the end of that!
Celtic aren't a club with money coming out of their ears, so would love for the club be enough to tempt Roy Keane??

I don't want him to leave, but if he does, I don't really care where, just as long as he doesn't stay in the Premiership! It's always a huge mistake to let one of your top players join one on your closest rivals, and Leeds have proven this fact by selling Robbie Fowler to Leeds! But i'm sure a manager like Fergie would do anyhting to stop this from happening.

For a while, I dis-liked Roy Keane, even though i'm a big United fan. I felt that his demands of £52,000 a week basic were too high and still are! I also felt that he wasn't worth all the fuss for the number of red cards he receieved.
But now when I look at the Arsenal team, and wages of players in Spain and Italy I realise it's not so bad. And also that Keane's a brilliant leader for United, and I think we would have beaten Bayern a lot easier in '99 had he played!

Please stay Keano, we need you!! At least untill Fergie's gone anyway!

I also bet Ireland are delighted that Roy Keane's their captain! He'll be a vital player in their bid for....survival in this summer's World Cup, and they should be ok. Just as long as Keane keeps a good temperment and doesn't see too many cards!

I also remembered that Keane assisted that 'should've been' van Nistelrooy goal, inside the first few minutes!

Keane may of been Man of the Match on the Utd side. But I thought that Mark Delaney should of been man of the match. He played very well, I am glad Wales have a good defender.

Man of the match today, proving that he really is a key player towards more United success, and he also showed it in the match!

I also think he's a real reason as to why the defence seems to be doing so well. He's helping the likes of Blanc and Gary Neville improve as centre-backs, by showing them how to track back, how to watch and follow their markers, improving them as defenders overall!!

I totally agree, I think Keane is brilliant and easily the most improtant part of the team. United can cope without any other member of the team but cope without Keane? Don't make me laugh. If Veron is worth £28m, what price Keane?

P.S. Read my latest post please 'The discovery of replay value' on the FOG chat forum and tell me what you think. Thanks!
