Think about this one, how about making games that are action adventure like MGS even more realistic, by giving the characters more human features. Think about it, in our everyday life’s there are certain things that we must have, food, water, showers toilet brakes and stuff. Now wouldn’t it make the games even more interesting if these ideas were implemented?

Just imagine yourself as Snake, you have just boarded the ship after a gruelling episode of having to absale down off a bridge onto this moving ship. He finally gets there when his stomach suddenly rumbles and he’s hungry. Now, instead of using rations he has packs of that stale army food they get given and he has to eat that. Now this could work even better if with time, and the longer he doesn’t eat his life goes starts to deplete meaning that finding food is essential. This would make the game have so much more to it. But this idea can be taken further!

Snake hasn’t had a meal for hours on this ship and is not even close to finishing, his life is low and so he has to search for some food. Luckily he finds some in a locker, buts its a month out of date, but hey, its a meal which he tucks into with no thought, to which after he toddles off to kill some more foes. Happily shooting away, he feels his stomach churn, takes no notice and carries on firing, *ggrrrrrr* again, and then he gets the final sign, *GGGRRRRRRR* Bad food wants out! Yep, Snake has to leave mid battle to go and relieve himself after his bad meal. This may sound stupid, but it would make the games even more enjoyable and funny even.

Other more real life things can too be put in anywhere in any game really. You could for example expand on the pits in Gran Turismo. While racing there could be a petrol gauge along side the tires meter, once they get low its up you to go in the pits. This would make the racing more tactical at times as well, making you judge when to go in the pits, and if by chance you run out of the gas, its your fault and you have to retire!

Other ideas may include your character being able to get injured. How many times have we seen in games where you fall down a large bank that would clearly hurt someone and force them to walk with a limp ect but instead they loose some life and carry on in with no harm done. Resident Evil used this, the more you get injured the more there physical being as well as there life gets affected. Games like Silent Hill, Gta, MGS, even Tomb Raider could so easily implement this into their games. This is the sort of thing that could help Tomb Raider loose its repetivness, imagine being Lara and dropping down a cliff, where as usually you would loose a hefty bit of life, why not have her sprain her ankle or just hurt it, making her not be able to run as fast and become more venerable until she can find a medi pack.

But there are hundreds more ideas out there for you to think of, if only the developers would start to think more about them too. It only takes a little bit on initiative and effort to do, and it would totally benefit any game that had this feature in. As I said, it could really bring old games that are being remade into the future and spark even more interest into them. Maybe people would even play them more, and take longer to complete them with some emphasis on keeping your character safe, and not get them into trouble. I mean, if your Lara in the middle of an Egyptian Pyramid with a broken leg, no medi pack and no help, your pretty stuck, this would be a great time for her to get nervous and not be able to move very well. But its things like this that will make you play the game more 'safely', trying to keep your chatacter safe from any harm. But if the developers can come up with something to use 'real life' things in their games it would be totally for the better.

So, what you're saying is, wouldn't it be great if you could be snake in first person mode roaming around The Sims, only The Sims are guards...:)

Some good ideas - only problem with some of these extra bits is that they could easily detract from the gameplay if not implemented carefully and could become frustrating rather than enjoyable.

Have you ever played Duke Nukem 3D? In that, when you go into the lav and walk up to the urinal he has a pee and says "I needed that" - it's just a light moment and I found it amusing the first time but it soon gets boring, So now I just blast them off the walls.

Some racing games already have the petrol gauge stuff in them - Le Mans 24Hr for example, It does make you be aware of whats happening to your car a bit more and is damn frustrating when you misjudge or forget your pit stop and grind to halt 200 yards before the pit lane entrance or the finishing line.

I meant to also say that the idea of your character slowing down when they are injured is a great idea. It's used in Resi but games like Tomb Raider would definately benefit from that kind of addition

Its a great idea. Games need more "practical realism". Imagine...Lara Croft - "Damn, i need the toilet". It would be funny to hear her say that, and funnier to hear Jolie say it too! :) Although to see it wouldnt be so funny
