Us console owners payed £100+ for a games console that grapics were good but not amazing. Now when playsstation 2 comes out, they're making us pay £300 just for a playstation with a dvd and modem. We could buy all of them for about £250. We could save money than buy them all in one. I'm not putting sony down or anything but the gamecube going to cost a lot, and there's psone. That costs £80 for a portable game machine. You could buy a gameboy pocket for £45 any you get2 games free. Its a rip off, prices nowadays. Tony blairs not lowering fuel prices, so I say that we make a stand.

Well thats been the news floating around the forums for about two months now, so I suppose its true, (someone said that their friend said that Sony said, and so on).
News just in. Sony closes down DVD and video production in Taiwan after the products are "not up to scratch".
Only Dvd we are interested in, and all our stock comes from about there.

I don't know if it is actually true that the PS2 is being sold at a loss.
But I DO know that the marketing costs of the PS2 are astounding. An estimated 67% of the purchase price covers mere advertisement. And that translates into about £100 with which to build the machine...

Sony are selling PS2 at a loss. £299! A loss! What could possibly make it so expensive!
Humm.
And what about X-Box, that is gonna cost loads!

First, a small quote:
"playstation games probably cost 10p to produce once the programing is finished"
ONCE THE PROGRAMMING IS FINISHED... Hmmm... And just how much do you think the programming fase costs??? A couple of pounds??? A hundred??? No, we're talking a million pound investment here, crippled by the corruption of employees who distribute stolen copies before the release to people who in turn distribute it to the consumer, virtually free of charge.
A simple egg is relatively expensive too, considering that it just fell out of a chicken. It's not the reproduction of the goods that costs. It's the distribution, advertisement, planning, taxes, and piracy... Well, maybe not piracy when it comes to eggs. How would you do that??? Maybe a future problem once cloning is more widespread... :o)
Personally, I think the price of both hard- & software is more than fair...

i think , your right , playsation games probably cost 10p to produce once the programing is finished , and they end up costing £20 to £50 in the shops , it's a bit different for the n64 , which the games would cost more to make but not that much more , gameboy games are the same as the n64 coz they are on cartridges and pc games are even worse , it would cost next to nothing for the blank cd's to produce them on and then all they have to do is program them!!!
so lets show the big guys what 2 stangers can DO !!!!!
