I just saw the cover artwork to the Hobbit for the Nintendo Gamecube.
The thing that struck me firstly, is that it seems to be taking a more cartoon look than its sequel (From the same creators-Sierra)being the Fellowship of the Ring on X-Box.

On the screen we see a rather 'Zelda like Link' clutching his little sword, wrapped in typical Hobbit like clothes, sporting blue cartooney eyes. In the background and around him we see a cave-lit with a luminous blue light.
The second thing that struck me is that it looks to be Computer Drawn. Looking closely at Bilbo Baggins' Hairy Hobbit feet you should notice they aren't at all hand drawn.
Could this have been took from the Gamecube version itself?
Let's hope so, as if it is- we are surely on to a sure fire winner from all fronts.
And fantastically, despite its Zelda cartoon look, the character does look the part!
As we now know that the Hobbit for Gamecube will take this approach, how on Earth will the story fit in with the larger Saga? In Particular knowing that the Sequel being the LoTR: Fellowship of the Ring(From Sierra), looks mightily impressive with its photo realistic backdrops and impressive character detail.
I just hope that someway or another the title in development for the X-box, will make it to the Gamecube in some stage of the systems life. But competition is rife in the world of Tolkien..or so it seems.
Not only was it a day when I got glimpses of the two Sierra Tolkien games and was left impressed, but EA it seems tried to steal the thunder by releasing screenshots of the games based on the Film, which might I add looks equally impressive.
The title being ironically: The Fellowship of the Ring, slated for release around the same time as the Sierra titles for the X-Box.
With EA's Screenshots we see Aragorn, looking impressively true to detail as Viggo Mortensen's potrayal in the Film.
Strangely EA has opted to make Aragorn the lead character, quite how they are going to pull that one off is beyond me.
Sierra's Interpretation of the same story on the other hand(Based on the Original Book) will see the lead character, rightfully, being Frodo.

So then, we are going to be inundated with Tolkien games, like we have never seen before (Literally).
And Im naturally excited with it all, like who wouldn't be?
