I'm on Freeserve Anytime, and I keep getting intermittent disconnections, even when the two hour surfing period is over. I never used to have this, and it has arisen in the last few days. It's very annoying, as my online playing has to suffer. I was just playing Quake 3 Arena, and I was just disconnected out of the blue. I was about to be blown to smitherines, so maybe it was a good thing! If this is of any relevance, it seems to disconnect more when I'm logging into various sites or filling out forms. Anyway, the question I pose to you is: What is the problem? I'm quite adamant that it's not a problem with either of my computers, but an anomalie at the other end (Freeserve). My friend said she phoned them up and they gave her another number, but I can expect you have to pay as you go to use another number. I'll be leaving Freeserve in 3 months anyway, after the special £6.99/month deal ends. That brings me to another point, what is the best ISP to go with for regular 56k access? I'll be getting ASDL at a later date.

So, just to recap
a) What can I do?
b) Which ISP shall I change to?

Thanks for all advice given.

The other number your friends mention shouldn't cost you anything, as they are part of the Anytime numbers, just something to try to see if they work better, as sometimes different numbers work better from diferent areas of the UK.

0808 9977001
0808 9916001
0808 9933006
161642 08452 402602

These are the number Freeserve gave me for alternate Anytime numbers, try these and see if any are better :o)

But generally I find Freeserve Anytime to be crap. I only use it for the £6.99 price tag, and will be finishing it when that price is up.

Not sure what I'll do after that though.
