With X-Box opening up more options for console online gaming, its hard not to get excited if your getting one.
:-)

Halo will be playable online and when Unreal arrives, it will supposedly support upto 32 players in a single online match ! No doubt online RPG's will come along as well as FPS. One game that has really caught my eye as far as online options goes, is a future WWF Raw game that is rumoured to be online. I don't mean the Raw game that is on its way now, but the one that will be following it later on. Besides having a lot more match options to go through, you'll also be able to play online against other players.

This could be great when it comes to created wrestlers. Its already fun to get your friends over and beat them all, but imagine how great it would be to compete in an online fatal 4 way match. Or an online Royal Rumble. Or even maybe an online 8 man tag match where all members of the opposite team have to be eliminated to win the match.

Of course wrestling games aren't everyones cup of tea, but at the same time it shows how ambitious companies are getting now. Who knows what other great games could follow. Apparently Nascar on X-Box will support upto 32 players in a race which will be awesome !

With people in different countries being able to play against eachother, maybe we'll start seeing online games based around such events as the olympics where players can represent their countries in events against players from other countries.

Maybe we'll start seeing games where you will be asked to join a choice of factions online. From here you could play for your side against others. As missions are lost and won between various sides, the overall state of such things as territory possession could change, etc.

Football could be another good online game with players controlling one player each and having to work together to win. Of course the keeper would have to be CPU controlled cause besides being hard to actually be good as a keeper, not many players would want to play in that position. But right there you would have a game that supports 20 players.

Other sports game would be good too if they could be played online. NBA Street is a good title that would be fun online with players teaming their created ballers together in street basketball matches. Then of course theres the likes of Ice Hockey, Tennis and at a stretch, even American Football if its done right. Games such as Speedball could also make comebacks as great online games.

Theres just so many options opening up as far as online gaming on consoles goes. Things are looking very rosey for the future indeed. :-)
