Microsoft, one of the largest companys in the world, x-box backed by a massive advertising budget, how can nintendo compete with this?

Nintendo won't spend as much on advertising, the adverts probably wont be as impressive, but they have what mocrosoft cant buy, a reputation as the greatest games developer in the world. Nintendo have two of the biggest names in the computer industry (mario and sonic) on their side, something which no other console can boast about. Also with games like Starfox adventures, rogue leader, pikimin, smash brothers melee, resident evil, sonic, eternal darkness, mario sunshine and loads of other exclusive games being released within 6 months of the launch, this surely leaves microsoft without a leg to stand on.
Price -
The biggest point. £150 rrp launch price! the cheapest (next gen) console on the market gives nintendo one hell of an advantage. Also witht he price of the gameboy advance going down this must surely mean success for nintendo. True the gamecube doesnt have a hard drive or dvd player but who really needs that? People who want a computer (which ultimately all the x-box is a stripped down computer) already have one, and as for the DVD...
Many people already own a DVD player, or/and a PS2 so therefore dont need another DVD player, especially since they would be paying an extra £100 for it anyway, and they can buy one for that price anyway
Gameboy Advance
The linkup is the most innovative and impressive part of any console. The linkup may take a while to take off but nintendo have some amaizing ideas for it (kirby) things look very good on that front
Portability
with the screen and battery pack/ car cigarette lighter you can play the console anywhere, somewthing you cannot do on any other next gen console
Fanbase
Nintendo has a massive fanbase they will support them all the way
PC fans will be tempted to go for the Box and Nintys for the Cube, obviously!
The price will have an effect, but only on people who're stuck between the choice of buying a Cube or a Box. They'll probably choose a Cube first as it's price won't go down for AGES, and the X-box is likely to drop in the near future, maybe even by x-mas??
But I know someone who's still getting an X-box first Idiot!!
Portability won't matter as no-one will ever really take their Cube to play on the bus or train, as it could get nicked or damaged, and there's already the GBA!
And the link-up system could be good, and somehting that others may take note on. But I don't think that'll be a big pulling point.
And fans of anyone can be found anywhere around the world in large groups. So I don't think WHERE their fanbase is will effect the war. But it's size could do??
We'll have to wait and see what happens in a month's time, and then again in 3 under 90 days. And watch it progress over the summer to see what effect what!
