Gary Lineaker and Desmond Lynham were in a fatal car crash. When they got to the Pearly Gates God would only let them in if they answered the question "Why were you put on this Earth?"
Gary replies: "Well, God, I was put on Earth to play football for my country to the best of my ability (except when my toe hurt), and earn honour and glory for England, and then when I retired it was my duty to keep the public informed about all things football in my role as anchorman on Match of the Day."
"Well done, Gary, here, you can have this seat by my right side."
God then turns to Des and says: "Well? What do you think?"
Des replies: "I think you're sitting in my seat."
