Its fair to say this isnt Flash Gordon as we know it. If you watch it expecting anything like the movie or the old TV series, disappointment awaits. Its essentially a re-imagination of the general premise. All the old names and places are still present, Flash is an athlete, Dale is a reporter, Zharkov is a scientist and Ming is the bad guy who is emperor of Mongo. From there on though, things are a bit different. Ming isnt merciless and doesnt seem to have much interest in conquering earth at this point. Mongo and Earth are connected by portals (discovered by Flash's father) so doesnt appear they'll ever get to space travel/ships etc.. So far its been mostly earth bound and quite formulaic. Ming hatches plot and sends something through a portal to earth. Flash and his posse of good looking women spend rest of the episode trying to stop it.
I'm tempted to say its rubbish and leave it at that. But it could just be that its early days and it'll develop into something better.
Next up is The Bionic Woman which starts in a few weeks. If theres not a guest appearance by Lee Majors in that I'll be sorely disappointed. :)
Well I watched Flash Gordon up until episode 9, I simply couldnt take anymore after that. Its one of these rare shows where you can feel actual embarassment at watching it. If you're ever tempted to watch it, I suggest poking your eyes out with scissors instead.
I've watched 5 episodes of The Bionic Woman as well. Its not too bad but a definite feeling of seen it all before so far. Seems a bit like an Alias/Dark Angel type of thing.
Ming the Liberal! The oldest being in the universe! Aaaaargh! :)

I watched the pilot of this yesterday. Looks promising, its a bit strange seeing a former cast member of Eastenders star in it though. It also has Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck in BSG) playing the nemesis as well as somebody else from BSG whose name I cant remember.
