Mainly because the original creator of the games idea would have spent hours with plans and ideas, only to have them halted because of a 'quicker' and 'easier' project!
Is that what its all about nowadays? Gaming companies will use the power of a famous name to sell a shoddy halve monkeh-manufactured game.
Harry Potter; that used the name even though the gameplay and mostly everything within the game stank. Sadly, many projects that would be absolutely excellent games get turned away because of projects which can be made within months and pumped into the market selling thousands with a name. Its not right is it?
Anyway, today I type the topic that talks about the games that don't make it... and should. Maybe its my opinion, but I honestly believe Nintendo and Rare are the best game manufacturers in the world. They don't throw themselves at names and trademarks, because the things that took them to their current success, was themselves. Others should learn from that...
...flying away from that as I don't want to start a gaming company debate. Did anyone ever hear of Titan's project for Robocop on the GameCube? Apparently its still in development, which is nice to know, but they never released reasons for its delayed press or any news. Its obvious that was because of other games, Robocop was put on the shelve to collect dust while smaller spin-offs were made. Its not right is it?
Companies aren't doing what they did (to quote me) 'Ten Years Ago'. Infact, that is where the problem arises in the fact that we have so many crap games. No thought goes in, no depth goes in, so why should they care if these average monkeh-manufactured games are simply that (thoughtless)?
They don't, because 'we' buy them. We are the gamers, we make the market, we make the games. Its not right is it? No, its not, but its 'our' fault.
Thanks

Some of those games! WOW!
That's why only the more daring companies try it.
It also doesn't help that lots of great original games are ignored in favour of mainstream clones when it comes to sales.
I think that when a company is making a big project of a groundbraking original game, they should release a cheap, sure selling spin-off a few months before it.
This spin-off would contain a playable demo of the big game, a demo that would be fun and playable and enough to generate interest in the bigger title.

Damn.
