I got this album for Christmas, it’s great.

The tracks:

1. Maria – This is one of my favourite Green Day songs on the album, its fast, energetic, and has interesting lyrics.

First few lines:
She smashed the radio with the board of education
Turn up the static left of the state of the nation

Turn up the flame, step on the gas
Burning the flag at half mast
She’s a rebel’s forgotten son
An export of the revolution

2. Poprocks & Coke- Not a bad song, a bit slower than the last song, but still definitely worth listening too.

First few lines:
Wherever you go, you know I’ll be there
If you go far, you know I’ll be there
I’ll go anywhere, so I’ll see you there
You place the name you know I’ll be there
You name the time you know I’ll be there
I’ll go anywhere, so I’ll see you there.

3. Longview – This I think is an amazing song, it’s easily my favourite on the album. Good lyrics, drums are perfect, and the burst of energy in the chorus, really makes this song better.

First few lines:
Sit around and watch the tube but, nothing’s on
Change the channels for an hour or two
Twiddle my thumbs just for a bit
I’m sick of all the same old s***
In a house with unlocked doors
And I’m f******* lazy

4. Welcome to paradise – This isn’t one of their best songs, but still its lively and worth listening too. Has good intro, which invites you into the song.

First few lines:
Dear mother,
Can you hear me whining?
It’s been three whole weeks since I left your home
This sudden fear has left me trembling
Cause now It seems that I
Am out here on my own
And I’m feeling so alone
5. Basket case – This is my next favourite song after Longview. It’s a very good song, has lots of good points, it’s interesting, exciting, and sounds excellent.

First few lines:
Do you have the time
To listen to me whine
About nothing and everything
All at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it

6. When I come around – Another good song, with an excellent introduction, the same standard continues throughout the song.

First few lines:
I heard you crying loud
All the way across town
You’ve been searching for that someone
And it’s me on the prowl
As you sit around feeling
Sorry for yourself

7. She – Not one of the best songs, but still it has nice fast tempo as the song plays, and is a catchy song.

First few lines:
She screams in silence
A sullen riot penetrating
Through her mind
Waiting for a sign to smash the silence
With the brick of self-control

8. J.A.R (Jason Andrew Relva) – Don’t mind this song, but wouldn’t particularly put it on to listen to it, but if I was listening through the whole album I wouldn’t skip it, its still worth listening too.

First few lines:
My friend drove off the other day,
And now he’s gone and all they say
Is you gotta live cause life goes on
But now I see I’m mortal too
I can’t live my life like you

9. Geek Stink breath – This song is ok, but nothing special, is good to listen too, but if you keep listening to it, it can get a bit annoying, but otherwise, it’s a good song.

First few lines:
I’m on a mission
I made my decision
To lead a path of self destruction
A slow progression
Killing my complexion
And it’s rotting out my teeth

10. Brain stew - Don’t really like this song, it’s quite annoying. It has a slow tempo, and gets boring very easily.

First few lines:
I’m having trouble trying to sleep
I’m counting sheep but running out
As time ticks by
And still I try
No rest for crosstops on my mind

11. Jaded – Not a very good song at all. Its very fast, but at the same time its annoying, and bit hard to understand. And at 1 minute 30, it’s a short song too.

First few lines:
Somebody keep my balance
I think I’m falling off
Into a state of regression
The expiration date
Rapidly coming up
It’s leaving me behind to rank

12. Walking contradiction – Not bad, some good lyrics, and a catchy tune, not a bad effort.

First few lines:
Do as I say not as I do because
The S*** so deep you can’t run away
I beg to differ on the contrary
I agree with every word that you say
Talk is cheap and lies are expensive
My wallets fat and so is my head

13. Stuck with me - I like this song ….a lot, it’s fast paced, and is good to listen too.

First few lines:
I’m not part of your elite
I’m just alright
Class structure waving colours
Bleeding from my throat
Not subservient to you I’m just alright
Down classed by the powers that be
Give me loss of hope

14. Hitchin’ a ride – This song is ok, nothing great, but can gets quite annoying. But it’s ok to listen to a few times, and than others, not this one over and over again.

First few lines:
Hey mister, where you headed?
Are you in a hurry?
I need a life to happy hour
Say oh no
Do you break for distilled spirits?
I need a break as well
The well inebriates the guilt
1,2. 12,3,4,

15. Good riddance (Time of your life) – This I think is Green Day’s best song. It’s not my favourite, but is still a very good song. Great lyrics.

First few lines:
Another turning point
A fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the best of this test
And don’t ask why
It’s not a question
But a lesson learnt in time

16. Redundant – Not too bad. Can get a bit annoying, but is a good song.

First few lines:
We’re living in a repetition
Content in the same old shtick again
Now the routine’s turning to contention
Like a production line going
Over and over and over, roller coaster.

17. Nice guys finish last – I like this song, its upbeat and lively.

First few lines:
Nice guys finish last
You’re running out of gas
Your sympathy will get you left behind
Sometimes you’re at your best
When you look the worst

18. Minority – One of the more recent Green Day songs, and its very good. It’s catchy, interesting, and always worth a listen.

First few lines:
I want to be the minority
I don’t need your authority
Down with the moral majority
Cause I want to be the minority

19. Warning – I have to admit I don’t like this song. It’s annoying and very boring, but you might like it, I don’t.

First few lines:
This is a public service announcement
This is only a test
Emergency evacuation protest
May impair your ability to operate machinery

20. Waiting – This song is ok. But I wouldn’t listen to it much. Quite repetitive.

First few lines:
I’ve been waiting for a long time
For the moment to come
I’m destined
For anything ……at all

21. Macy’s Day parade – The last song on the album. And I think it’s great. It’s much slower than other songs on the album, but is a nice song to listen too, with some very good lyrics.

First few lines:
Today’s the Macy’s Day Parade
The night of the living dead is on its way
With credit report for duty call
It’s a lifetime guarantee
Stuffed in a coffin 10% more free
Red light special at the mausoleum

Overall: I think it’s a great album, and is worth the money. It has all of Green Days best tracks on one nicely presented album.
You get a lot for your money. A mix of songs that are all different from each other.
Thanks for reading, Dave

I wanna get this, got all GD albums but I want the 2 new tracks on this, and also J.A.R. (was that a B-side?) because that isn't on any albums. I'll probably get it then copy it and take it back to HMV to trade it. Well GD have enough money now, so it's ok to copy their CDs...

Oh, and they have re-released Nimrod (not in UK though) I saw an HMV import for (get this) £22!!! of Nimrod that had about 5 bonus tracks. Also, a few weeks ago in HMV 'Superhits' was only $13.99 and now it is £16.99! damn rip offs!!!

And how can you say you don't like Brain Stew?!? That is one of the best songs off insomniac!

Green Day are one of my favourite bands. I saw them at the Leeds 2001 festival and they blew me away.

Brain Stew is a feckin tune, there greatest hits album is more like Dookie mixed with Smoothed out Slapp hours a bit of Kerrplunk then a few off Isomniac, so bascially ignore Nimrod and Warning cause they where a bit poo.

They should have just re-released Nimrod, and called it a Greatest Hits alb.
