It's an undescribable feeling. You get home to see a familiar packaging. A brown envelope/parcel package.
It's here...
You quickly, violently tear open the package, turn it upside down and out falls that game you have been waiting for for goodness knows how long.
The game you have followed throughout magazine previews, reviews and finally to your home is now in your possession. I'm talking about that feeling. You know THAT feeling. This time I'm getting it as I try and pull off that lamenated factory packaging that seals this very desirable game. The factory packaging puts up a fight as I frantically try to get to that much needed CD inside. Finally I get my finger under the appropriate bit and push and it tumbles off like a rag doll. A CD bounces out at me, I grab it and throw it into the CD drive. All I want to do is to play it!
Install! Instant action. CD Key.. CD Key... You pick up the package from the floor, no longer is the CD the most important thing. Grabbing the manual you tap the code frantically in and hit okay. You accept everything they throw at you. Which directory, which installation, you don't care as long as you can play it. Then the process begins. It's going on right now. 42% as I write this. File after file copied on to my hard disk. Both just not working that fast enough.
All I can do is wait though. My hands quivering with that feeling. The feeling of a will to play something more than anything else in the world. Better than any normal Friday feeling. Better than any normal beginning of half term feeling. I'm sure you've had this feeling before. I had it with Max Payne and Perfect Dark as far as I'm aware. Something tells me however this is going to be the best thing yet.
My heart racing I flick to check it's process after seeing my cd drive and hard disk stop flashing. Insert the next CD?!!? What CD?!! I open the case - please don't say this moment has been ruined by a CD missing! Please to God no! My heart stops racing as I find another CD - another suprise in this case, just below the manual. I pull out the paper case, the sticky bit that holds the CD in the paper case puts up some resistance but I win in the end. I throw it in. Hit OK. The hard disk and CD drive spring to life once more. I nervously flick to and from this post as I check it's status. It seems to be going much too slow. 67% seems to be not budging but finally it does. It seems like it's taking for ages. 85% now. So close, I can smell the beaches of Omagh and can hear the sounds of explosions. I turn to the CD case - haven't even looked at it yet. My mouth drools at the screenshots. I read what I am to be doing. Driving a King Tiger tank sounds fun but stealth does too.. as a matter of fact it all sounds good. A menu springs up. I don't want to register, I don't want to read the readme file! I click finish. I click the icon on my desktop. It's time..
Someone has to record what it's like to have that feeling. I need to be able to recall it at a later date. I'll report back to you on whether it's any good. I promise. Just don't expect me back till the very distant future...

Omagh is a quaint little Irish town.

Yeh it's suppose to be Omaha but I keep saying Omagh for some reason.
Anyway. This game is absolutely amazing. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the greatest single player first person shooter EVER made.
The levels have so much depth and are so exhilirating. I've just finished that demo mission where there are four of you having a huge gun battle inside a village with machine gunners everywhere, people upstairs firing at you. I love this game! It's so so good. Beats the Playstation versions with a flick of it's finger. Amazing! Well worth the wait!
