Sure, we all want to have the newest games, so that we can talk with our friends about them, so we can show off to our friends that we have them, so that we can take the Mick out of them as we have the game and they don’t, and for other reasons too. But we are paying too much.
I have a paperound – a once a week job, that earns me roughly six pound a week. This means that I have to work approximately for 7-8 weeks, just to get one game. By this time, all my friends have already completed it (unless it is a final fantasy, or they actually have lives) and this means I am behind “the time” at that moment. This can’t be right?
Although I could then use the money to buy another new game, there is not always a new game I want, so I then end up buying really bad, cheap games, or just spending the money on other stuff, like food.
People can argue that the money goes to a good cause – as there are hundreds of people who make each game (as you can always see in the credits of a game when you complete it) and they deserve the money for all their hard work, but not that much money!
The consoles themselves are usually between only 3 and 4 times the price of the games. So I ask you, is it really worth that amount of money, just for one game?
