Like when your joking around with people and you take the joke one step too far, or tell a funny story which just isn't funny.
I try to think about what I say before I say them, because I used to get into a lot of trouble when I would just say stuff without thinking.
The problem is some of the funniest stuff is said when your not thinking about it, so there is always the risk that you might end up offending someone instead of making them laugh.
One example of this was recently I heard someone do a joke about the world trade center, only a few people laughed and the rest just sat there in an embarassing silence.
Is it just an inbuilt thing in us that we make these mistakes, or without the unfunny stupid stuff there wouldn't be any funny stuff?
I am trying to do jokes in the deadpan delivery style at the moment, and people believe that I'm not joking (because I don't say much so think I'm serious when I say stuff) , but then thats just a difference in senses of humour that some americans might not get. It hasn't backfired yet, though I haven't gone too far with it yet.
I've probably let this post go on too far now, but thats what you get when you don't plan them out.
