Would we have maybe have extremely light weight sets with huge handles ontop to carry it around to your mates?.
Or It could come in many colours to suit our tones and tastes?.
It could come with Attachments to vibrate your armchair giving you a 'be there' feel to what we watch, hmm?.
They maybe would have thought of an idea on the likes of concave screens, expanding the flatness of an age old idea-the TV Screen itself.
Really though, If you think of it, Nintendo really do pioneer with Hardware that it sets its mind to.
And if they built Television sets, who knows really what pioneering ideas they could come up with.
They are full of Ideas, full of options and generally 9 times out of 10 they succeed with their Ideas.
Effectively, that is what makes Nintendo so cutting edge for today and indeed more importantly- For the Future.
Where would we be without Rumble Paks?, Without the Full-on reliance of the Analogue stick with the N64?
Where would we be without D-Pads? Shoulder buttons and Controller Prongs? Controller Slots and Save game features on Carts in the by-gone days?
Sounds a little stupid and minor I know. Some might say "Hey But Every other company could have thought of that!" and my answer would be "Will why didn't they?, Why didn't Atari, Commodore, Sinclair, Sony, Sega and any other known company think of the ideas if it was so easy?"
Hardware isn't the only case either, what about Software-Games!?
Where would we be without the Platform exploits of Mario? Where would platforming games be today without that fat plumber?
The same goes for the Zelda's of the RPG world.
It makes you think doesn't it?
At the moment Nintendo is a company that is being constantly slated, really for no apparent reason.
Could it be jealousy?
In reality, if the people who criticise Nintendo and despise them sit back and think this out for a moment- Where would the gaming world be without them?
Answer: No where.
And when you turned it on it would go *ba-ding* like at the start of Mario 64 before he goes "It's-a-meee, Mario!"
And yes, Nintendo have done a lot for the future of gaming, mainly with the N64 pad and GameBoys. I like the Z-trigger button and joystick best, even if it isn't an Ninty original. I also think that the C-stick should work quite well with the GC pad. And comfort is something that always comes with a Nintendo pad!
It was some relatively unknown Company during the early Eighties to introduce that idea.
Sega effectively revamped the idea with NiGHTS, but really that is it....it ceased.
Nintendo however took full advantage of it and fully showed how to pioneer the idea to the max, with 99% of every N64 release. Making other Companies follow suit.
And I must also mention: The Playstaion only introduced the Dual shock 'Rumble' feature built in to the joypad after the success of the invention by Nintendo themselves with the Rumble Pak.
Sega were the first to have an analgue pad in a console controller- ever! And it became standard too! Sega were even the first to have analogue buttons on pads- something that has also become standard.
Sony were the first to have 2 analogue sticks. They also created rumble packs that came in the controller.
Microsoft have...errrrr...ummmmm... yessssss....
sonic
