How's this for an odd topic?! :D

Even for some manufacturers, you find that the remote controls differ slightly, although I think now most manufacturers are making all of their remote controls for specific types of devices the same and running on the same frequency to save the hassle of making a new one each time they bring out a new model, what with the vast diversity in current technology.

There are even remote controls which come with specific devices, but have extra functions on them for controlling other devices too, like the Sony ones we have in our living room for the DVD, TV and VCR. Normally, these remote controls which have loads of features for every single device are generic ones or ones which aren't specifically designed for a particular make, model or device - they are the ones you buy separately as a spare or replacement, like those by ONEforALL or whatever they're called.

So, basically, what are the most comfortable remote controls you've ever used? Which ones have the most features? Which ones look the best? How does it differ from the others? What's your overall favourite remote control?

My TV/DVD combo has one remote for both functions, which really is handy; only problem is that it's quite hard for me to read what some of the buttons do at times. Small text and bad eyes don't mix...

The Sky remote is the best looking and easiest to use, I think.

For a really decent one, if you were in any way serious about your AV setup, you're looking at over a grand. That will get you a backlit screen with touch pad and light control (for dimming) as well as programmable functions for all your music, video and TV needs.

The next stage up from that is paying for your own private usher, really...
