It has been confirmed. Relatively trustworthy sources all over the place have confirmed, in a non-confirming sort of way, that the one you know as Mystique, was indeed a toad, called Toad.
It has emerged that, after a late night session of X-men, she decided to try and 'be' a toad. Unfortunately for her, it didn't work, so she just bought a small outfit and wore it for three years. One source confirmed that people called her Toad and kept her in jars, but she was eventually rescued by a 'prince' (of thieves) named Tonty, for some peculiar reason. After the appearance of 'Tony is a Fool', Toad decided a new lease of life was necessary, and changed her name to Mystique, as Mystique was a better X-woman. But her secret past of Prince loving has been uncovered, and now she will live in shame, unless she changes her name to Toad. Yes, that soundsa about right.
