Yesterday I noticed my PC's CD re-writer was missing. I asked my brother about it, and he told me since he'd bought it all those years ago, and since he'd just upgraded his old P300 (which is built from old upgrades of this machine) that he would take it. He also took the old 20 gig hard drive that was in with the 100 gig. That happened to be the D:, where I've been installing games for the last few months since I'd filled my E: with games, programmes and MP3s. I said I wanted my stuff back, he said since we were on a network, I could transfer it all. Alright, I said.

Today I asked him about it, and he told me everything had been lost. Everything. Mafia, The Thing, Battlefield 1942, Half Life + Counterstrike and Jedi Knight 2 to name just a few. Rather annoying, considering not only will I have to reinstall them all, but I'll also have to spend ages making the space on the other drives (the 100 gig is divided up) What's even more annoying is that I spent all of Sunday downloading and installing loads of new skins/models for Counterstrike, and now they're all gone, along with all the Jedi Knight 2 skins I've built up.

I've had a dozen hard drive wipes in my days using this PC (in it's various forms) but that was all when we had a 20 gig or even just a 2 gig hard drive. So very little of my own stuff was lost each time, just a couple of gig. I have to reinstall about 15 gig worth of stuff, which also means clearing 15 gig from somewhere... looks like the porn may have to be sacrificed... *sniff*

That's bloomin' typical, that is

Unlucky someone I know had a copied CD of Allied Assault and if he wanted to install it he would have to delete everything.

Grr, just checked, and I only have 3 gig of porn anyway. Not exactly enough to reinstall all my stuff, but it's a start

Maybe I should do the unthinkable and actually delete some of my old games, of which I never play (like Spiderman)

Hmm...

I always have hard drive crashes so what I do I sat my largest hard drive (80 gig) to be the master hard drive with windows and all main files on it and I use my little 4 gig hard drive as a back up (or slave) hard drive where I save important stuff like school work or website html's.

Then if the master hard drive crashes since it has windows on it, it is that that is effected and not the smaller one. You will have to wipe the big hard drive but you still have all the important stuff and can re-transfer it to the big hard drive again.

Or you could just back up onto CDs

10/10
Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Second to none...
So far the services you provide are second to none. Keep up the good work.
