Right, I am now scared.

I had it all planned, buy GC, games etc. But, y’know my telly is getting on a bit. And while reading the GC deals from SR it says, “with Scart Lead”
Right, I have a scart socket, but this is already occupied with my video stuff.

So, where does this go?!

Also, I am thinking about buying the speaker and sub set especially for the GC. Does this only plug into the GC and mains? Cuz if it does then I’m ok. Does it give surround sound? And is it any good? £35 sounds very reasonable, so if its good, then I may buy one.

Anyway, let me talk about how good this is.

GC is released May 3rd yea? Or something very close, and my birthday is 9th So, I get money that I already saved (£100ish) and my Birthday cash (£150 ish) Which gives £250 ish, so, I buy GC, few games, and my GAD win.. and some stuff. And its all cool.

So, could just someone help me out about the scart stuff and the speaker stuff.

Much appreciated

scart plugs are the ones with a black box shape that plugs in to the long sokcet in your tv , with loads of pins in , it also has the red white and yellow leads coming out , and sometimes a black lead.

does anyone know if s-video does any difference to the picture quality ? it is ment to make it pin point perfect , so i bought one from lik-sang just to see what it does , hope it's as good as it's ment to be !

it was only $10.99 , for postage and the cable ! thats only about £7 , while in this country they will be about £15 , superb !

You could buy an RF Adapter for £9.99 from Special Reserve. This is the same as the units that all of the older consoles use eg N64. or you could buy another TV you rich git.

Not necessarily.

Well, you seem to have the scart situation sorted out, i'd just say that i'll be picking up a multiple adaptor - several scart cables plug in, you press a button on the box to select which one you want to run through to the tv, and the box has its own scart cable to the back of the tv set.

The sound station?
Not sure how good the sound quality will be, but i'd expect it to be a pretty high standard, much better than it would be otherwise.
As for wiring it up, it really won't be a problem. It mentioned that it takes sound output from personal cd players, so that'll be a normal headphone jack. Your tv will also have one of these, if the necessary cables to wire the whole thing up aren't included with the set, work out what types of connection you need at each end of the cable and get yourself to a tandy or somewhere. The staff should know their stuff, better than somewhere like dixons or currys, and so long as you have worked out the connections at each end (it needn't be technical, 'like headphones', 'a red one and a white one' or 'it says digital' will usually be fine), they'll be able to sort you out with what you need.

Sounds like S-Video to me, certainly not SCART, your all wrong!

S-Video = 1 pin plug with three contact strips - white red and yellow.

Scart has two varieties:
1. enclosed case, usually black and depending on the purpose only a few to many pins (i think its 21)
2. three plugs - (1 red, 1 white) = SOUND and 1 yello = VIDEO or PICTURE, these all plug into a small box-style case type thing the size and shape of the scart head with the corrosponding number of pins...

So Tony Blair was right and you two who both tried to give "advice" were wrong...

...sorry but things come in a variety of ways, dont bite my head off or attempt to dispute, beacuase believe me, i DO know about this...

No it is not. I have had so many problems with scart leads so I know

It's kind of a extension plug. This connects your TV to the video

Just looking at Gamecube Peripherals.

http://special.reserve.co.uk/listings/specialsearch.php?ty=CON%NGC

They sell a RF adapter, the one like you get with N64, so get one of them if you dont get the scart thing working.

Yea, I found out what im gonna do.

Use the "spare" scart socket on my VCR, and if that don't work, I will just take out the one from my telly and plug in the GC one.

I can't wait. Black GC for me.. Can we now order games? I can see them in the database..

Cheers for helpy all.
