I was trying to post a message of my usual exquisite taste and style, but wasn't allowed to, being told not to use abusive language, type in capitals or have words longer than 30 characters (as if!).
Anybody else had problems like these?

There will always be the odd disruptive member amongst any group, if the group is large enough. Censorship on a forum is fine, there are certain lines that any civilised person should know when or not to cross. SR's policy of having a wordprocessing program check our postings before they are submitted is a good idea. If I hit that message, and I often do when I waffle on with my long sentences like this one, I just reword it more gently.
No problem for me.

I agree Milo, I shall ignore him, seems the only way to shut him up.

It reminds me of the tale of a Ms Babc0ck, who was unable to register her details under that particular name as the word c0ck was deemed offensive, so what did she do? Why she registered under the name Babpenis instead! So much for censorship software!

I know 5 messages in a row may be a LITTLE bit sad, but just to round off, what do you all think about SR's new censorship policy?
On the one hand it deals with people like our esteemed friend Matt, but on the other does it restrict our power of expression at all? There used to be a fairly low-level of non-offensive swearing which was generally good natured and not really a problem.
I guess the main point is that it is sad that it was needed at all. Although I suppose you can look at it as good that we managed to last this long without it being necessary.....

My original message was:

No, we have no direct power over who can post here, however if someone is showing themselves repeatedly to be offensive and ignorant there is a simple solution, ignore him. Starting columns to slander him is not going to help anything, just further degenerate the forums into immaturity. If someone is constantly posting stuff clearly not worth a reply, then don't, not even to tell him so.

This will be my first and last post on the subject, I hope people will use their common sense and not descend to the lowest level posting on the forums at any given time.

: I think the problem may have been that I used the word sl*g instead of slander. Words with multiple usage eh?

Does "ignorant" count as abusive language?
