Some game hve come close in my view of near perfection. GoldenEye for N64, was one of the best multiplayer game ever, followed by Mario Cart on SNES. Doom and Quake are the best first person shoot 'em up. As for adventure games, Resident Evil or Tomb Raider. And RPG games such as Final Fantasy VII. Or even Championship Manager. But non of these game offer a gaming style that suites everyone.
You see that is the problem. Although, in my view the original Mario Cart is the best multiplayer game ever and FF7 is the best single player game, this is only 'my view' and many other people would strongly disagree. The question is - Will there ever be a game that suites everyone and will that be the best game ever?
My answer: Probably never.
