So I took my baby down to a shop* *(may or may not have been called gamestation) and traded it in against the Halo/Splinter Cell Xbox, 3 more pads, dvd and a few games more.
Control...
Compared to the PS2's pad, the X box controller S is a joy to hold, with all of the buttons even though I haven't fully got used to it, the analogue sticks are in the right place to enjoy easy movement, and the controller is big enough to be able to grip. The same cannot be said for the Controller that came with the console, I just can't reach some of the buttons (the black and white ones especially), so I'll chuck that one over to a mate for Halo.
Conclusion: S controller pips it, Xbox 1, PS2 1/2 (for beating normal controller).
Style.........
Conclusion: No doubt about this one. PS2 has it over the X-box
Xbox 1, PS2 1 1/2
Memory............
Again another none starter, As the Xbox has its own built in hard drive, you'll probably need to get 100 games and 100 CD copy's to fill it up.
In comparison, the PS2's memory is a datastick, and bloomin expensive at £30 a shot. Although it is portable, it takes longer to load from.
Conclusion: Hands down to Mr Gates for incorparating this
Xbox 2, PS2 1 1/2
Graphics and stuff.........
Right, I'll have to do a few comparison's here.
Colin Mcrae Rally 3 vs Colin Mcrae Rally 3
The PS2 version of this was excellent, however the Xbox version is on a par, or even above.
While control is easier in the PS2 version, Graphically the X-box has the edge. No pop up like I got using my PS2, and this is most noticable in the split screen mode.
Xbox 3, PS2 2
Halo vs Red Faction
Again the Xbox version takes the Prize. Why? The multi player, 4 player coop mode it the dogs b****** and also the non existant loading times in game. The only thing you'll notice is a loading of about a second, much like a DVD layer change. OK, so no Geo mod, something that everytime I look at a FPS I look for now but I can live with it.
Xbox 4, PS2 2 1/2
Tony Hawks 3 vs Tony Hawks 4
Graphically, No Difference, I can't judge gameplay as it is quite different. Pro's of Xbox version are the soundtrack option, you can play your own music in the game.
Xbox 5, PS2 3 1/4
SEGA GT 2002 vs GT3
Graphically, The PS2 has the edge, as well as on cars and depth. I don't like SEGA GT already for some reason, It just doesn'y have the appeal of GT3
Xbox 5 PS2 4 1/4
Back Catalogue.......
PS 2 rules this one, no doubt, far more games for it than anything else (however there is a load of tripe to be bought too).
Xbox 5 PS2 5 1/4
Other stuff.....
PS2 has backwards compatability, however I found mine to be unreliabe and there is obviously less memory in it. And there are STILL only 2 control ports. When will they learn?
Xbox - Multiplayer ports, one of the most important things in todays gaming, built in ethernet card and hard drive (does this mean it can use virtual memory?)
Xbox 6 PS2 5 3/4
DVD........
Quality is better on the Xbox, and there are less problems with playback. However you HAVE to pay for the remote, otherwise you can't play them.
PS2 - Picture quality is alright, and It plays most DVD's straight out of the box. However, not all of them.
Xbox 6 1/2 PS2 6 1/4
Value For Money.....
In terms of Hardware, the Xbox wins as its cheaper and you don't have to spend another £30 on a memory card. Pads for PS2 are cheaper by a fiver, but if you want four you'll have to buy a multitap (£30)
So, Xbox wins it then. Add the fact that you can get 4 games for just a tenner more than a standalone PS2
Xbox 7 1/2 PS2 6 1/2.
As far as I can see, the Xbox is slightly better, but as for the Games, not really that much better, It just depends on what your willing to pay for, and I think that currently the Xbox IS the best option for value fotr money, after a long while when it certainly wasn't.
Please don't turn this into a 'my console's better that yours' thread, else I'll call you a dipstick and slap you with cheesy poofs.
Its just my opinion.

MGS2 vs Splinter Cell.
The battle of the Sneak-em ups.
MGS has lovely cinematic scences and touches, such as cardboard boxes etc, and Is a great gaem. Pitty about the playing time though.
Splinter cell will have a longer life span for me, It's taqken me a day to get past the first level (about 4 hours playing time, to MGS2's 14 hours in total, if you watch all of the cut scenes).
Slinter cell also has more character moves and a better, more personal gameing view.
I like splinter cell more.
X-box 1 PS2 1/2 (because MGS is sooo good)
Online Stuff:
X-box and PS2 will both need broadband connections to work. HOwever, your going to have to shell out for the PS2 hard disk and modem. A bit of a con if you ask me.
Also, the X-box is online NOW (Test Drive). Got my headset last night and it is brilliant. I can download more levels for splinter cell, play fifa and tony hawks... And Ghost Recon is superb.
PS2 has been out for two years longer than the Box, and yet there is no real sight of an online capability. Hmmmm
Xbox 1 PS2 0
I've always been a Ninty until I saw GTA 3 running on a PS2. That sold it for me, but I did get bored of the console very quickly.
I thinks its because there were no multiplayer games (4 people) for it. I couldn't be bothered to buy a multitap as there were very few games which used it.
So I took my baby down to a shop* *(may or may not have been called gamestation) and traded it in against the Halo/Splinter Cell Xbox, 3 more pads, dvd and a few games more.
