Er, news just in on Special Reserve Upwire, EA have got the rights to the Harry Potter books. Does this mean we will now get NHL Potter coming out, then NHL 2002 Harry Puck? Oh dearie me. The books were great, but EA getting the deal? Bad news for RPG fans, and that is what Harry Potter should be all about, not a platformer or high speed NFL 'em up. Who want's to bet that there will be a basket ball level in the first game that EA produce with this new licence?

I thought this story was so great I've just replied to myself to put it to the top of the pile, how's that for bigotry?

It is more likely that EA will release an average game, nice graphics, maybe put a pop song in there, with not much effort on gameplay. Then we will all sit back and watch those sequels flood the market. Using the same old tired method, but with improved visuals and better animation.
Watch this space for HARRY POTTER 2001,2002,2003,2004,2005

Exactly Mattyboy, my feelings echoed expertly there. I wonder how much JK Rowling got paid for the license, enough to retire on now that the film rights have gone. My feeling is that EA will hold out until Speilberg does the movie and then they will try to release the same day the film gets released, usually a bad thing for gamers, remember Batman? That one put me off platformers for life. Mind you, what else could they do with Mr. Potter and chums. It's not exactly the right sort of fare for a shoot 'em up.
