Things certainly seem to be looking up for the PS3. A slight blip in the gameplay of Heavenly Sword aside, Sony had some good news for a change in the industry comments for their new online-only game, Warhawk.

Considered a brave move by some and suspicious by others, Warhawk doesn't have a single player campaign. It doesn't even have bots. What it does have is spades of gameplay, some nice graphics and a bunch of lucky beta-testers who constantly mumbled many good things while dogfighting their way to glory.

So there was a danger that the hype might overrule the game, but luckily it seems that Warhawk is very playable and has all the right elements to make it a top selling classic. It's also the first console game to be available both as a download and on blu-ray disc, the blu-ray coming with extra videos and a bluetooth headset.

The next game to use this retail method will be Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, a cut down version of the full Gran Turismo 5 without damage and other elements which may be downloadable later. It won’t be free, but expect a smaller fee than a full price game for this eagerly anticipated racer. Luckily, for once, it looks like Europe gets the game first, with Sony confirming that it will be out before the end of the year and most likely before Christmas to entice yet more people to part with their cash for the shiny black box.

If we’re really lucky, Home will be out soon as well and then Little Big Planet, both very eagerly anticipated as unique selling points for PS3. With new Metal Gear Solid screens appearing all the time and no sign of Konami going multi-format, plus Haze looming on the horizon, perhaps the PS3 might enjoy Christmas this year...

Hee hee I worked on Warhawk. It is a decent game, but not a reason to own the console.

Another one to get is the PS3 sequel to the PSP hit Locoroco. This time it looks as if you’ll be playing as a group of butterflies, waking up Locorocos and using the sixaxis to move. It’ll be released in Japan on 21st September as a download, so hopefully we’ll get it pretty soon after.

I'll buy the Blu-ray, mainly due to poor download speeds and using too much space on the hard drive. Unfortunately, this means I'll have to wait another couple of weeks for it.
