it depends on the game how awkward the inviting friends etc unreal is pretty decent were as Ghost recons is pretty fiddly

Well it is like MSN. When a friend is on you can see an icon next to there name. To add a friend you need to know there gamertag. But you cal also add a name that appears in the recent players list, so if you are playing with them and you want to add them then you clikc on there name. When adding a friend it doest actually add them, it sends a request to that person. If they accept it then they are on your friends list, if the decline it then you wont be as they dont want you as a friend.
