I just got a memory card for my PS2 and everytime i try to save it says "FAILED TO CHECK MEMORY CARD" .... What is wrong???

Doesn't matter - you purchased goods that were faulty at the time and were not of 'Merchantable Quality'. You don't need a reciept and most decent stores won't insist on one for a Credit note or straight swap.

Sounds pretty screwed to me!
I'd assume it's a 3rd party one, becuase from experience these are much more likely to have problems than the official Sony one.
I'd take it back and get a replacement if I were you.
