We've all heard about the contract, haven't we? The one which will take a middle age man and force him to make extreme sports games. Tony Hawk, Skateboarding legend, will be in his late to mid 40's when his deal with Activision runs out, and he has already retired from competing in the sport professionally.

The contract is said to last for about 15 games, all with the Hawkster as the starring role. But who says they are all going to be skateboarding games? I mean sales of 'Tony Hawks Pro Skater 12 will definitely be less than that of the 4th incarnation (which is out now), and so Activision could well look for an alternative direction to sell games

Luckily for them, I am on hand to help stop sales slippage and produce some great gaming ideas for them!

Tony Hawks Platform Skateboarding.

The Tony Haws games have traditionally been about a load of goals randomly thread together on a set of different levels. But what if the goals all followed a story? What if the game actually had a meaning to it? Yes, we could make Tony Hawk's a story driven game, but, to add even more spice to the mix, we could make it a platformer! Yes, Tony is losing his grip as the king of extreme sports and YOU have to gain back respect from the viewing world. Oh, and kill the new kid who is threating to take over you.

We could even put enemies in for you to defeat - put levels in town centres and fight the dreaded mini - moshers who think they are hard because they've got a Slipknot hoodie on. To get rid of these, first you must get Metallica CD's from HMV and then replace the Steps CD, which is their walkman, with it and KABLAM! They're on the ground, screaming for their mothers

In the Final level you must perform the 900 several times in under a minute and grind across a statue, whilst collecting skate - Innovative, no?

Possibility - 5 out of 10

Whilst it does have it's upsides - embarrassing the mini moshers would be great - the game does have many more cons than pros. Firstly, how likely would it be that a 40 year old could even get close to kids who are not his own without the police coming after him? Also, some of the cut scenes would probably need him to talk, which would mean kids would hear Tony's high voice and he'd instantly become uncool.

Tony Hawks Pro Skate Racer

Take on the best of the extreme sports word and show them who's boss in the craziest race of your life! Just think - It could be like Mario kart, but on skateboards. You could grind barriers to give you 'insane' power ups like being able to ollie higher than you previously could or even kick over skaters as you pass them.

It could also include people from different sports, meaning that their could be rivalries and even a relay mode - Tony Hawk, Bam Magera and Kareem Cambell taking on Mat Hoffman, Dave Mirra and erm... um... well, nobody knows any more BMX stars anyway, do they?

The courses could take place in the craziest and most revolutionary settings - a Skate Park perhaps? A city centre? Or even, get this, a building site! All the cool kids won't be able to take their hands off of this one!

Also, with a host of unlockable characters and a skate course editor, the possibilities are endless in this unique experience

Possibility - 7/10

'Unique'? This has been done before, and quite well actually. Anybody remember 'ESPN Extreme Games'? That was pure class (It was on the first 'Demo One' if you want to dig out your PS1 and have a go) and is nearly the same concept of 'Extreme Racing'

I would quite like to see this though, as I know what fun racing on Tony Hawks can be. In the Mall level in THPS1 (or 2, I forget), me and my cousins used to see who could get to the end of the level the quickest and break the glass. Brilliant multiplayer mayhem ensued, leaving us playing for days.

Tony Hawk's Time Warp

Whilst enjoying the golden years of his retirement, Mr. Hawk hasn't ben just sitting around you know! He's been developing a time machine, enabling him to go back to his youth and be the skater in his prime that he once was.

The only thing is though, to enable the time machine you have to pull off impossible combo's. If you succeed you go back to the mid ninties. Fail and you go into the future, having to skate in a wheelchir to survive the pink robots which were created to stop extreme skating.

Possibility - 2/10

Yes, the story might be a little on the thin side, and the game might sound like absolute tripe, but it could be the funniest thing the world has ever seen. Think about the ways the old Hawk could fall out of his wheelchair, and the expression he could make whilst frantically pressing the Forawrd button on his electric wheel chair to get away from the robot's.

They could also give the old hawk power ups - Coffee to make him go slightly faster, Medication to stop him from falling out of his chair as often and Out of date sweets to give to the unsuspecting grandchildren.

We could've well have seen this during the 16 - bit era, but our only hope for this one lies with the GBA

Getting sacked

Tony Hawk's sales have been slipping - Skating games aren't 'in' anymore, and the public don't like the look of Tony Hawk in his latest outing - He's unshaven, fat, lazy and farts every 1/2 hour. The big bad bosses at Activision have to drop the dead donkey and find some new talent quick.

Possibility - 9/10

I hope this day never comes, but I fear it will come within the next 3 games as they are all getting too samey. I love the Hawks games with all my heart, and have owned all of the 4 games so far, and I intend to buy the 5th when it no doubt comes out late next year. Hopefully Activision can find a way to make Hawks game refreshing as they once were, and give the public a thrill.

I reckon we're soon going to end up with Tony Hawk 2003, or 2004 depending on when its released and they'll head down that road
