the answer is laughter and its something that games provide in abundance no matter what age you are.
gta3, one of the funniest games ever invented and also one of the best. pogo the monkey, petsovernight.com, and sleepofflard.com are all brilliant ideas and not only does rockstar make them funny in the game, its made even funnier by the fact that the websites even exist (go on give it a try). brilliant.
mgs2,funny secrets to be found, such as replacing the characters in the fmv sequences with new characters such as a middle aged woman.
multiplayer games are the funniest to be had (unless you have no mates and are devoid of humour, quite like normon). bomberman is a classic game (pity about the many sequels) and its great fun blowin the crap out of your mates but funnier for them when you blow yourself up.
basically, what im trying to do is applaud all game developers who add a little humour into their games and dont take themselves too seriously (max payne for example, references to john woo, inspiration for the game). the world will never end as long as people can still laugh (apparently), and at the moment im wettin myself with laughter but im not quite sure why. games are funny, people need laughter and games also bring people together (if only we could sort out all our troubles with games, can you imagine george bush and osama bin laden playin street fighter). ha ha ha ha
