***********************************************
Example:
The no 1 selling game in Japan is an N64 game
Given reason:
N64 is the best
Actual Reason:
The number of games released for the console is so low that when a good one comes out, almost every 64 owner buys it. When a good game on the PSX comes out, it is usually competing against many more releases at the same time- meaning a smaller proportion of PS gamers buy it. Think about that next time you quote the Japanese sales charts
********************************************
Example:
Although the Xbox sold 1.5 million consoles in America over Christmas, the PS2 still did better
Given reason:
Sony are the best
Actual reason:
The Xbox physically sold out, meaning it could not have possibly shifted more sales. The PS2, on the other hand, had been in production for much longer meaning a surplus has been made for the Xmas sales.
Anyway, I have a lesson now... but I'll probably be back later with more examples

It's no worse

Agreed, but as I did say, my stats were based on quite a few months ago.
It's no worse than the gc of course...

I got that in an Upwire e-mail but that was just a week or 2 after the launch of the 2 in America which was in November so the results may have changed slightly since then.

"Lies, damned lies and statistics"
Sonic
you can prove anything with facts
and
83.4% of statistics are made up
: ]
Example:
75% of GC consoles sold out after launch while X-Box had 90% of consoles sold out.
Given Reason:
X-Box is a bigger seller than GC and therefor more popular.
Actual Reason:
Ninetndo had many, many more units shipped for the launch and they sold out 75% of them. X-Box, meanwhile, had a small amount of X-Box's shipped for launch and they sold out 90% of them. Which means that Nintendo probably sold more but the stats that have been shown go in favour of the X-Box.
I'm not sure if this is ENTIRELY true but it has a bases on something that I heard.
