"Is Jim Carrey the funniest man alive?"

I would like to start off by saying that I do think Jim Carrey is one of the funniest men alive, but whether he is the funniest is obviously debatable. Jim Carrey is a physical comedian as well as a vocal comedian. By physical comedian , I mean that he uses a lot of facial expressions, flailing of arms ..etc. One very good example of this is the bowl that he uses throughout Ace Ventura When Nature Calls. By vocal comedian I mean the wide range of voices that he pulls off during his highly successful films, which often leave me in tears. He uses a wide range of techniques to make people laugh, and is not afraid to act a bit (well, very) stupid. It's only of late that I have been able to fully appreciate his films, and am enjoing them far better than when I was younger. I don't know whether Jim Carrey is the funniest man alive, but hes definetely one of them. Feel free to comment, criticise or give your own opinions, I would like to know what other people think.

Not really-I think think of funnier(Chris Tucker,etc...)

i think Chris Rock is funnier than jim carrey but jim is pretty funny. just not as good as chris

He his one of the funniest actors around!! I liked the Ace Ventura films and Dumb and Dumber - Very humourous!!

No. In my view, the world's greatest comedian is John Laslow, of GTA3 Chatterbox FM fame. Excellent cynicism.

Or Kevin Smith. Probably K Smith. Definitely, actually.

I have a Jim carry signed photo. I wrote to him years ago and one day I came home from holiday and there it was, waiting for me.

What about They Think It's All Over, eh? Heh

The only two decent films Carrey has done are the Truman Show and Cable Guy. In those films, his character actually develops, rather than simply running round pulling faces and cracking poor one-liners.

A true comedian has a funny personality, rather than a funny face. Sports personalities run around pulling faces and flailing their arms, but we don't watch them for that.

I recently watched Batman Forever and The Mask, I'd forgotten how funny he is in both those films
