Well i did this post a while ago, which is basicly the whole moves that can be done within the game, i think it should be of help:

------------------------------------------------------------

Shooting:
First up is shooting, perhaps the most important part of the game, as in anything to do with football. Basically when holding square to shoot a power gauge will appear on the screen, the higher the bar the power there is on the ball, the more power on the ball the higher and less control there is, and possible depending on your player, the ball will go sky high over the net. I find the best power to get is about 60-75%, this creates enough power to get the ball past the keeper and you get the accuracy you need. Possible thought the best way to score is to be diagonally running to the goal, then you can shoot and use the D-pad to curl the shot around the keeper, also at this angle more of the goal is exposed. This though is only a good option if you can get the ball to the player there. When on one-on-ones with the keeper, the keeper usually leaves his goal line to limit the space you have to shoot, when he does this press the opposite direction to where you are facing and square to try and lob the keeper. Also holding triangle and square will perform a lob shot, this is better from distance though. This is quite hard to do at first but once you can it is extremely pleasing to see the ball in the net. This is all about timing and how much space you have.

Passing:
The only way to score is to keep possession of the ball, which obviously is done by passing the ball. There are three types of pass in the game: 1. Normal pass, 2. High pass, 3. Through ball.

1. Normal Pass:
When pressing [X] for the a normal pass there is no power gauge, pressing pass and a direction on the D-pad will kick the ball to the player in that position, however it is better to pass to a player close to you using this type otherwise the oppositions will intercept the ball if it is a long pass as there is not enough power. If you press [X] on its own, the ball will be passed to a player closest to you from all sides. It is also possible to do a back heel pass, this is done by pressing [X] and the opposite direction to where you are facing. Holding [X] while the ball is in the air will make your player jump and head the ball to your own players if he makes contact.

2. High Pass
When pressing [O] for the high pass, a power gauge will appear at the bottom of the screen, the higher the bar, the more power there is to the pass. I advise though that you don’t use this as an attack pass as more often than not, the oppositions defence will head the ball away, it is very affective though as a defensive clearance. When you are given a free kick, if you hold down and [O] then you can perform a strong pass along the ground to a far away team mate. The circle button is also used as the cross button when you have the ball on the wing, it is more affective to run up close to the line and closer to the penalty box as you can for a good cross, it is also better not to be holding the run button while crossing as there will be more accuracy if you don’t. When crossing also if you double tap the [O] button it will perform a lower cross.

3. Through ball
This is done by pressing the triangle button, there is no power gauge for this pass. This is a very affective pass, if you see a player running into space, press the button and the ball will be pass along the ground in front of the running player. This is especially useful for getting in front of a slow defensive line and running up the wing. Also if you press L1 with the triangle button it will lob the ball over to your player, this is very good also for lobbing the ball over the defence right to your player’s feet. The key to through balls is timing, and once you have mastered it, your attacking options will be endless.

Running:
By keeping the R1 button held your player will start to run, when running though with the ball it is much harder to turn and stop which means if you are running and a defender is coming towards you, you wont be able to turn and stopping in a hurry can not be done, this means you will loose possession. It is better to only run into where there is a lot of space, or along the wing so that no defenders will catch you.

Strategy and Mentality:
On the Tactics screen you are able to check change you strategy, while playing, hold L2 and then either press triangle, [X], [O] or square to change your strategy to the style best suited to the game being played. It is also possible to set the mentality of your team while playing, holding R2 and either square are [O] will change either from attacking or defensive.

Now to the defensive side of the game.

Tackle:
There are three types of defensive tackle: 1. Sliding tackle, 2. Step in tackle, 3. and clearance tackle. Also while holding square a computer-controlled defender will go for the ball, it is used as a defensive header and a clearance.

1. Sliding tackle:
This is done by pressing [O], be careful though, if you miss time it you will more than likely take down the player and get bucked, also if you miss the ball and the player then it takes and eternity to get back up and the attacking player is long ahead of you, this is especially bad when you are the last defender and you miss, leaving a one-on-one with the keeper. [O] is also a clearance button.

2. Step in tackle
The [X] button performs the step in tackle, which is ideal for your main tackle when you are close to the player, this is because you will usually always win the ball and rarely foul the player. When your chasing a player hold R1 and [X] to chase him and get the ball cleanly. A good way to tackle also is to hold R1, [X] and square, holding this will have your player chasing the ball and also a computer controlled character so there will be two defenders chasing the ball. Using this though is not always the best option as sometimes they are clumsy and foul the player, also it brings a player out of his position and leaves a gap in the place, but its up to you how you defend.

3. Sliding tackle clearance
This is best used when neither team has the ball, but two players are chasing it in your half then you may want to just slide and clear it before the attacker gets to it. Mistiming though will often lead to a foul.

The Goalie:
If by chance there is a one-on-one with your keeper, holding triangle will bring out your keeper to close down the area. Extreme caution must be taken with this, as often you may be lobbed or your keeper may make a viscous tackle and completely miss the ball bringing down the player, resulting in a possible penalty depending where it is, and most probable the keeper will be sent off.

Changing player and running:
When tackling manually you may want to change your player to someone closer to the player by pressing L1, however this is usually done automatically. Running without the ball you can turn and stop quicker than with the ball, so it is always better to run when defending.

So that is the main part of the game, but there are some special moves in there too, and also in a minute you will see the best ways to score from free kicks. Read on…..

Step-over:
This is done when you have the ball at your feet, pressing L1+L1, the defence will usually tackle missing the ball allowing you to run on through or claim the foul.

One-two pass:
This is a great way to score, leaving the defence in pieces. Hold L1 and press [X], the player will pass the ball and then run into space where the receiving player will pass the ball back, often the ball will be received in front of the defence leaving a one-on-one with the keeper. It can also be done pressing L1 and [O], this time the ball is lofted over the defence.

The Dummy shot:
This is a little trick to make the defence think you are going to shoot, it is done by pressing square and [X]. If done correctly your player will swing his leg to shot…but does not, the defence usually try and block the shot by tackling leaving you to run around them. This is hard to pull off however.

Dummy pass:
When you pass the ball to a player, tap R1 and the receiving player will let the ball run under him so let another player to run onto it, again this take practice to make use of it.

A little Touch:
When running with the ball press the direction you are facing twice fast to knock the ball on a little, this will make the defender commit a tackle and foul you, you may be injured though but you will get a free kick.

Free Kicks:
It is possible to score free kicks just like your international captain, David Beckham from 25-30 yards, and here is how.
Depending where your free kick is being taken from, aim the ball to where most of the net is exposed, when you are ready to take the kick, hold the down button (this will give you more lift on the ball to clear the wall) and then hold square until the bar is about 60-75% full, if you add more the ball will be sky high. Just as the player hits the ball, hold the direction button to curl the ball the direction that the net is free, taking the ball further away from the keeper.

You can also score goals from further away, but it is harder to do so, here is how:

When you are about 35+ yards out (any more than 40 is being a little over confident… though I have done it a few times before) aim the ball to the right or left of the wall, where the exposed part of the net is, yes it may look like it will go wide but do it. This time hold up to give the shot more power than height, and hold square till the bar is about 75% up, then again when the player just hits the ball, hold a direction button to curl the ball back in towards the net. The ball may have looked like it was going to go wide, but if done correctly it will just make it to the inside of the post.
