"DOLBY DIGITAL DECODER ON PS2?"

I wonder if anyone could help me here,

I have found an active speaker system that allows you to listen to 5:1 Dolny digital, only if the DVD player has a dolby digital decoder built in. Many dvd players do not, and was wondering if anyone knew if the PS2 had it, otherwise it will play in Pro logic, and I dont want that.

Any ideas??

What connections have you got on your speakers? If it requires requires your DVD to have the decoder built in then it must have six phono sockets on it, (Front L+R, Rear L+R, centre and sub)

If it has a single phono socket (AC-3) or a Optical Input then the decoder might be built into it.

The PS2 uses Optical so if it hasn't got that you cannot connect it.

Nope, the PS2 doesn't have a built-in decoder - it just outputs the signal, to be decoded by a DD5.1 amplifier.
