I know this is probably an old topic whats now just a real bore and been done so many times people don't want to read it but just let me ask you one thing. How many people who come to chat on these forums have actually copied a game from a friend at one time or another ?

I know i've done it and it's not been to make loads of illegal copies to sell at car boot sales or in town for drugs (as the police claim thats why people copy games), no it's just been to add to my personal collection and because i saw it as a way to save money. I know it's actually against the law but at one time or another every one breaks the law in some kind of way even when you drop litter on the floor.

In actual fact though there is a loop hole which says that you make a copy of a cd that you own but it muct only be for a back-up purpose only and you may only either the original or the copy and when you get rid of the original you must destroy the copy.

There was one thing that i used to do quite alot of, i used to track down cracks and serials (which i now have a nice collection of site names for) for programs that i'd downloaded of the net just because i did not see the point in paying say £15 for a program that hardly does anything.

I'd just like to hear what crimes other people have commited and for what reasons.

Compare your "programs that don't do anything" with specialist software written specifically for, say, the banking industry, and you will see exactly how much it is worth.

My girlfriend has a piece of software on her computer which amounts to little more than a glorified Winzip and would set you back £35,000 if you wanted a license. So a terrifically complex 3D game with 1GB+ of intricately drawn textures for £20 is actually quite reasonable value for money, don't you think?

Yeah i agree, but the software i'm talking about is stuff like cd burner software and mp3 mixers etc... but speaking of things that cost alot that abmount to nothing, a mate of mine just got Microsoft's Digital Image Pro which set him back £59.99 and it's rubbish, i prefer using iPhoto Plus 4.
