The creators of Black Hawk Down, based on a true incident in 1993, wanted to use Guns 'N' Roses infamous "Welcome to the Jungle" track on the film, and guitarist Slash and drummer Matt gave the go ahead, but vocalist Axl Rose intervened and decided to only allow it if Rose's new line up of GNR were to perform a cover of the song. This was laughed at, and so the soundtrack has been flushed down the bog. When the real-life mission took place, "Welcome to the Jungle" was actually played as the soldiers made their way to the destination, and so they wanted it to be even more realistic. Slash and Matt are adamant that by the time of the DVD release, the song will be in there.
