i know that edge magazine is good, i agree with a lot of its reviews but i really think they hate the ps2 for some reason they just rated final fantasy 10 a low score (i.e 6/10) the reason for this was it does'nt have a world map, first mgs2 now they give ff10 a low score. they don't have any trouble giving xbox games like halo 10/10 (considering its just a beefed up version of quake and not many original ideas in it, i have played it and its good but not 10/10 good).

Its facts about the game, from multiple sources that lead to an overall opinion forming in my mind. I have seen rolling demos, read early plot details, seen hundreds of screenshots, read about 10 reviews, read about 20 previews, and looked back at previous successful FFs on PSone. This has led to an opinion of my own (even if it is a combination of lots of opinions). This may change a little upon playing the game, but only in terms of how the gameplay feels to me. The rest, graphically, sound wise etc.. I can already form a fairly certain opinion.
Haven`t you ever formed an opinion of somebody before actually meeting them? The more information you gather, the closer you are to the real thing when you finally meet the person. If you look at one source only, you could be misled completely. Ask 20 of their friends, 20 people who hate them, 20 people who`ve only vaguely heard of them, and another 20 who are perhaps oredered around by this person, or who give orders back, and you can get a much better overall view.

I think what can annoy people about Edge is the scores. We are use to seeing good games like Final Fantasy getting 9/10 or even 10/10 from most magazines and internet site.
Edge give 5/10 for an average game which in a PS2 magazine would get 7/10. Another thing is that they like original titles. Also if alot of the PS2 games do get 10/10 then one game might be better than another getting 10/10.
Halo gets 10/10 because too me it has added more to the FPS. You can only hold 2 weapons, which adds tactics. You have fellow Marines(or whatever there called), that help you out. You have to help them out aswell. The act like really human players. If you get into the drivers seat of a jeep, if a Marine is near by, he will jump on the back and use the gun turret. You drive a tank and nearby Marines jump on the side for a ride.
If you say Edge loves X-Box then they must think Nintendo is god, because both Zelda OT and Mario 64 have got 10/10.

As for Edge Magazine... I think its just them trying to put up a false image in a silly attempt to be cool. They`re welcome to their own opinions I suppose, but their approach seems a little childish sometimes.

How can anyone here have an opinion of it anyway? Unless you have played it of course...
although i don't read edge magazine i have bought the odd copy, i was surprised it got a 6 and many people will agree/disagree with what edge scored the game, personally i will be getting it as i have never played a FF game, so it will be a whole new experience for me..shame its not out for a while though :(
1) Read review- there was a lot more to the game getting a low score than just what you said. The story is mediocre, the random battles are predictably easy, and occur too often, the characters are annoying, and the game does nothing new. Read the review for even more reasons.
