I was just surfing the net like I always do, doing some HTML editing in Frontpage, and I heard Stephen Hawkins voice say something from my PC. I tried to turn it up, but it wouldn't. Now, I know it's not an embedded audio file from any of the websites, because I surf them regularly and it's never come up before, so in conclusion, I am in a real state of confusion. What do you think happened? Considering the following: my PC is next to a wall, which is next to my neighbours' living room and my TV is on. Damn, I'm sure I heard it from the TV!

What you're listening to is the Lernout and Hauspie TruVoice Text to Speech Engine. It's something that converts, well, text to speech and is the software Stevie uses. It's very, *very* clever, and used in lots of products, including Microsoft Agent. It could either be a piece of software on your PC, or a website may have recorded it. Either is equally likely.
