As soon as Microsoft announced their plans to enter the console market, I laughed. I think we all did. I mean, Nintendo were always going to keep going on GameBoy Fuel alone, but now the GameCube is proving to be a hit, as well! The PS2 is great, and I actually find myself liking it! Granted, it's no GameCube, but there are more than a few titles on the PS2 that you can't get anywhere else! State of Emergency - Devil May Cry - GTA3 - Wipeout Fusion - Jak and Daxter. The list goes on... but what i'm here to talk about is Daydreaming...
Well, in essence at least. When I ever start thinkning about games, which isn't very often nowadays, I always drift into the future. I know the Future of Gaming is a very exciting prospect, but we're still not even there. Just like we can't live in tomorrow, we'll never actually experience the Future of Gaming, because it in the future. There is a time for everything, and when things become a reality, they're in the present, and not in the future. Sure, Voice Rec. is part of 'The Future of Gaming', but it won't be in a years time. It'll be a reality.
It seems daft, doesn't it - the way we gawped at the SNES graphics. When, in reality, we knew they'd get better.
Crap, can the Future of Gaming really be about Voice recognition, and Motion Sensor. I hate the thought of it. I know we'll use pads aswell, but what if you want to play a game late at night... you can't exactly shout at a marine because he didn't do the right number of push-ups - you'll wake the heavens! I prefer a Control Pad, nothing more, nothing less. If the GC pad had pressure sensitive buttons, it'd be perfect. Well, maybe a Blue button somewhere - I can't believe there's no Blue button - Mario wears Blue... stupid Shigeru Miyamoto, nerd!
But still, it's nice to think about the future of gaming. We harldy talk about it anymore. I suppose because the titles of today are so exciting, but either way we should talk about it more. We might have some major industry-influential bodies on these forums and not even know it! What we suggest might become a reality! I love the thought of the future of gaming, but only when i think of Nintendo stuff. Sure, all the X-Box stuff sounds good, and the PS2 is matured perfectly, but I think there'll come a point where graphics stop. Sound Stops. Frame rate Stops. Effects Stop. And then, it's back to gameplay. like in the days of the SNES.
I'm telling you, the Future of Gaming is in the past, you just don't know it!
Game: Has a Warped mind from sisters stereo blasting out modern RandB hip-hop s**té! I hate Rap. Guitars Are Good. Crowded House aren't bad. 60s music rules. I'm tired.
